Hello group. This is my first post. I am almost 50. I am the youngest of 5 girls and 3 of my sisters have already had breast cancer. One sister has had it twice and she did the genetics testing. She tested positive for BrCa 2 gene mutation.
My doctors are going nuts. They want me to have this test done and IF it is positive they want me to have my breasts removed Shocked!!!. I have NEVER believed in this form of medicine before and I am searching for some answers and alternatives.

I am a mother of 6 beautiful children. I have nursed all 6. As I understand it this will help lower my risks. Also of my 6 children, 5 are girls.
My husband I and believe I should at least get the genetics test to see if I may have passed this terrible gene on to the girls. They would in turn need to be tested later in life.

Can anyone give me information about the success rates of this type of terrible preventative surgery?? As I understand it, there is NO WAY any surgeon can 100% remove ALL of the breast tissues so a person would still have the same risk of cancer once the breasts cut off!

I would appreciate any imput.
