My mom was diagnosed July 05 w/esophageal cancer. She did not tell me whether which type or how large the tumor was. She was a heavy drinker, though she stopped that in 200, htough she continues to smoke.

For a variety of reasons, she declined any treatment--chemo, radiation, surgery, prefering to wait it.

She has lost 20 lbs and now weighs about 86lbs.

Recently she discovered what she called "lumps" near her hip replacement and went to see her orthopedic surgeun. he said it was not from the hip replacement. Because she doesn't want to say the word "cancer" (and is unable to find words most of the time) she said that the "doctor said it was form the other thing," which I can only assume means she has metastic bone involvement.

She refuses to take pain meds...

So my question is, after searching far and wide online, is there any information on what to expect from untreated metatasized cancer? I know every case is different as we are all unique, but...

Thanks!
