I just went for a transvaginal ultra sound and what it shows is that my endometrium is extremely thick (16mm). So now the second step I guess is to do a biopsy.
I'm really freaking out after reading alot of the forums, because I am 36 and I guess it really is possible, even with 2 kids.
Although at this stage, I am still trying to tell myself it could come back as no cancer. Then logic sets in and I really don't think it could be normal at 16mm.
Has anyone had just a thick endometrial lining and was told it is nothing to worry about? |

Hi jeninseattle:
Welcome to the forum . I was diagnosed last year with stage III-C endometrial cancer BUT my endometrial lining was normal. My twin sister four years ago had a unusally thick endometrial lining and fibroids, but thank God no cancer! She had a biopsy after my diagnosis just to double check and all is clear for her!! I wish I could give you a definitive answer, but a thick lining is not a guarantee for cancer. I will be praying for a good report for you--let us know how it turns out.

I also had a transvaginal ultrasound just last week and mine came back with a thickening of the endometrium. They didn't tell me how thick, just that it was too thick for my age (32). I too am a little afraid of what the biopsy will tell. I am also a little afraid of the biopsy itself. I read that it was painful. I have 4 kids and I read somewhere that this cancer occurs mostly in menopausal women and women with no kids, but I guess that's not how it goes for everyone. _________________ Robin McGinnis

I'm not very worried about the biopsy, but I'm sure it's not the greatest feeling either. I have read the same things as you have, but I did read a few cases of people our age with cancer. So?
I'm just glad there are forums like this so we can talk to others, empathy from other caring people really does help emotionally. |

Hi Jeninseatle,
I was just wondering if you got your results back from your biopsy. I remember you were wanting to know if anyone just had a thick endometrial lining and it turned out not to be cancer. That's what one of my symptoms was - I got my biopsy results back and they were normal. _________________ Robin McGinnis

| Just wondering if any of you ladies can tell me how long you waited for your results on Endometrial Biopsy. Thanks. |

The doctor told me 7 - 10 days, but I received my results in just 4 days. Seems like a life time when you're waiting. _________________ Robin McGinnis
