Hello,
Right where shall i begin............
First of all i was just wondering if anybody could give me as much detail as possible about Cervical Cancer.
I have had HPV for over a year now and have been getting frequent visits to my gynaecoligist (sorry if thats spelt wrong), Ive had a biopsy and numourous amounts of Cyloscopys. All my cells are cancerous and are just waiting to go mad, im terrified a si havent exactly been given much information. And going through this at such a young age is overwhelming. My dr's are all very good at there jobs because once you are signed on witha gynaecoligist everything is paid for and i needent worry.Theres a 30% chance that it will grow into Cervical cancer and my dr said im not looking to hopeful .
I live with my father and am having difficulties trying to explain to him whats wrong with me as he is deaf and has a had a pour education.
Any parental figure then could give me advice about this and what will be happening next will be truly appreciated.
Thankyou
Laura

Dear Laura:
I'm so sorry you are going through this frightening ordeal at such a young age. I too have cervical cancer. I was just diagnosed Friday after a bunch of testing. My doctor is sending me to a GYN Oncologist for a consult. In my case they are planning a complete hysterectomy. I have a rare form that is not with HPV.
You mentioned your dad, is your mom not living with you? It's harder for a man to understand all the emotions a woman will feel. Is there any woman figure in your life, an aunt, sister, friend? You shouldn't be alone. I am more than happy to correspond with you.
With compassion,
your new friend....Barbara _________________ I was just diagnosed with endocervical adenocarcinoma. I go to a local GYN oncologist on Monday. A complete hysterectomy is being planned. My primery GYN was great and persisted with testing until he found the site in my canal. I missed my papsmear last year!! Can anyone tell me how there treatment went? |

Hi Laura:
I'm sorry your parents are divorced. That alone is tough on kids. You have been through more than most people at such an early age. Do you still go to school? Would you be able to seek help from a female guidance counselor? Where abouts do you live...is it in the UK? There must be support groups near you that you can meet with other cancer patients.
I also have Multiple Sclerosis, the relapsing remitting type and it is under control with medication. I would have done better at the beginning of my diagnosis if I could have talked to someone in my same state and condition. Now, after 20 years, I am helping others that come to me through friends. Let me know if you can find a group, okay?
I am now 53. I have a son who is 28. I am married to a wonderful husband for 22 years. He has 3 adult kids, too. My suport system is solid so my heart goes out to you!!!
Look forwad to hearing from you.

Hi again B
Thanks for your swift reply. Are you from the UK or USA?
No worries about the whole parent front, it was nearly 4 years ago now and it was upsetting at the time. However life still has to flow on.
Im from the Channel Islands. If your from america you prob wont know where it is.Its a little island between France and england, closer to france really. I am going to my Gynocoligist shortly so i might ask him if theres anywhere i can go to meet other people who are in the same situation.
Im not at school i left at a young age as i was going through a rough time, with my parents divorce and being Bullied.Im a trainee insurance broker which i love.
It sounds like you have a large family who are supporting you.Sorry if im sounding rude or out of line, you don't have to answer anything if i upsets you, could you tell me the process of how you discovered and well got diagnosed with cervical cancer.I have had a numorous amount of chloscopy's and biopsy's. I was just wandering whats next after all this waiting. Im very lucky though i have a fantastic boyfriend who i have been with for 18months and he is so extremely supportive to me.
Sorry to ramble on.
Thanks for writing to me.
All the best
Laura

Hi again!
No worry about the questions. I am glad to hear that your boyfriend is supportive. Good girl about asking your GYN of a support group! Let me know what he/she says.
I happened to find out about the cancer because my pap smear was irregular and showed suspicious abnormal cells. My doctor was very thorough and kept testing me until he found the source. My third biopsy showed the cancer. I have a different form from yours. It is seen in only 10% of the women with cervical cancer. In my case a complete hysterectomy will be done to hopefully eradicate the cancer completely. After surgery I will know if I need chemo or radiation...hope not!!!
Has your cells changed from pre-cancer to cancer? If so, what are they planning to do to get rid of the cancer?
Do you have a video cam on your computer? If you do we may be able to hook up like that sometime.
Good luck with your visit to the doctor....oh, I live in Las Vegas ( USA)

Hi Barbara
Wow Las Vegas how cool's that. Id love to go there one day.The furthest i have been is Cuba but hopefully one day il manage to get round to that side of the world.
Im sorry about all the pain your going through. Its sucha drastic situation but lucky for you you've had children etc.(Sorry i don't mean that in a mad way, bit hard to explain.i think you'll Know what i mean though ) My cells are just pre-cancerous.I get checked every 2 months. My GYN hasn't really told me much about it though, thats why iv'e come on here. From all the info i have gathered on various other sites i believe i must have one of the cancerous types of HPV. I believe there is about 5 different types that usually lead into cancer well compared to the others.
O i really hope you don't need chemo or radiation, you seem like a real big fighter and i know you'll get through it. Ive you ever feela bit down just get in contact with me I have a web cam so if you want to talk on that, that would be fabo. Or do you have MSN.
Lots of love and hugs
Laura

HiLaura:
I'm glad it's precancerous only. You are doing good to keep checking it. I understand your feelings about having concerns because you don't have kids yet. That was one thing I was greatful for since the hysterectomy won't affect my child bearing now.
Keep your chin up. A positive outlook is a healthy outlook when it comes to cancers. Of all the cancers to have, cervical is one of the most curable when caught in time. It looks like your doctor is on top of it, so keep plugging along...okay?
One day it would be great to have you come out to Vegas! It is a fun town and very different from many areas. Tell me more about the Channel Islands? How is your work training coming along?
Talk to you soon,

Hey barbara
How are you?
I dont think there is a vaccine over here yet.We are well behind the time here lol. I do know there is a vaccine for very young girls that haven't had sex yet so will not be able to catch it through a male partner. However this only works if you are indeed a virgin.I dont think there is a cure for people infected with HPV yet.I think it will be soon around the corner though well hopefully.
When is your hysterectomy? I hope everything goes ok,Im sure it will.Il be thinking of you sweetie.
Doctors over here are fantastic and luckily i dont have to pay which also helps. My gyn is fantastic.
Wow las vegas what a dream away.It sounds so great.Defo come over one day.A very long trip though.I have to fly to the uk and then get a flight over think its about 15hours or so? Well Im from a tiny island called Guernsey it is the 2nd largest of the channel islands. Its population is about 60,000 so not very big at all. You can hold us all in a stadium. Its very quiet and very safe.Everbody is very individual and like the UK there is know competitiness (Sorry cant manage to get that spelt right )Its a half hour flight from England and about a 15minute flight to France, so just off the cost of France. Ive Lived here all of my life, My Boyfriend is from Birmingham in england but lives with me and my dad.I have 2 brothers one called Chris, hes 10 and another called Matt hes 19. Matt is at university in england so i dont get to see him to much. When he is home though he's with me and my dad. My dad is deaf but a loving man bless him hes such a sweetie. Hes actually opening up his 2nd business at the moment he wants me to help paint his show room! That will be a laugh! Well the funny thing is i only started my new job last week.I used to work for HMV the music warehouse, im not sure if you have heard it or not? I met my partner ian there, from my 1st day we hit it off and haven't been apart since. Anyways im really enjoying it so far, i have to do loads of courses but i want to travel one day and at least il have a career under my hat to get a job wherever.
Anways sorry for the essay hehe.
Tell me a bit more about Vegas, and life out there?
Cheerio i hope your well.
Lauz

| Hello Lauz, glad you've found someone to talk to - the new vaccine is available: it's called -GARDASIL- available in UK to prevent Cervical Cancer and genital warts. Talk to your gyn about it. |

Hi Laura:
Well it's time to see the oncologist this morning. Wish me luck! I'll keep you posted.
Did your doctor ever mention a petscan? This is a scan to see if cancer has spread. Since you are only precancerous, this probably doesn''t apply. If that should change, ask for one.
Love,

Has anything changed with your health issues? How is work coming along? Let me know if you need to talk.
