My 74 year old brother has been going through bladder cancer for the last year; this will be his 4th operation to remove tumors. The 1st, they went iin and removed, followed by chemo and radiation; 2 months later more tumors (they went in and removed and scraped the bladder); chemo/radiation, a few months same thing. In my humble opinion the chemo/radiation is not do anything. I've been researching the holistic/alternative, including herbs, mega doses of vitamins, etc., trying to find something to help build up his immunity or overall strengthen his system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello Rene,

You did not mention your brothers complete diagnosis, but like your brother, I also have bladder cancer. Mine is urothelial carcinoma, non-papillary (invasive), high grade, pT1, with extensive carcinoma in situ. I am a 58 year-old female.

I have been receiving BCG treatment in increments for 17 months. I will biopsy again on Nov. 14th. My first 4 biopsies revealed multiple maligant tumors, however, the last one revealed one non-malignant tumor and one non-malignant abnormal area. We will decide whether or not to continue BCG maintance or remove the bladder based on the results of the up-coming biopsy.

You may want to discuss alternative treatments with his doctor. I wish you and him comfort and peace of spirit and mind.
