Well my first Ann was yesturday and I kinda thought in my head it was going to be different!
I also have a birthday tomorrow the 20th, so we went out to dinner last night to celebrate, I wanted to have this Big Bash! Like to Say I did it!
Yes 1 year of Hell is over and I am Cancer free.. But you know it was nothing like that.
The people I was with was my family and they have supported me through this whole ordeal, But I think if it was other women that was there Survivors! It would of been that big Bash I was dreaming of!

Well I was kinda disappointed But only in my stupid mind..
Has anyone else thought like this or am I being foolish?
Just was wandering...
Thanks,
Tammy

Happy first anniversary, Tammy. I know that this has been a challenging year, and aren't you thrilled it is all behind you? Now it is time to look ahead and focus on the future. I know what you mean about wanting to celebrate with other survivors -- women who have walked this same road. It seems like no one understands us like someone who has "been there, done that." The women on one of the other boards I post on have regular gatherings. We've gotten together since 2000. I think there were almost 40 of us together in St. Louis. It is a grand way to share real hugs and get to know each other. It is always sad when we lose one of our dear breast friends. Since that St. Louis meeting, I think we have lost about one third of the fine women who were there. Each one of them has been a dear friend and has left a lasting memory. It is sad that so many have died, but I am richer for having known each of them. Happy hugs for you, Lauri

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Tammy!

Lauri is so right. I feel a special bond with other women who have had breast cancer. When I went to visit my sis for Thanksgiving in Connecticut, we took the train to New York City. On the train just a couple seats away from me, there was a woman who had a scarf on (it looked like she was bald under it). At one point she removed part of her scarf to scratch her head and she was bald. Then I noticed she had the breast cancer pink pin on. A man sitting with her also wore one of the pink pins. He looked like her dad. I just wanted to go over and give her a big hug and talk to her but I was too shy. Some people would like that and others would not. Later, I regretted that I did not go over to her! Next time that happens I will take a chance.

Celebrate your anniversary. I had my one-year since dx in August. This is such a special time.

Hugs,

Margie
