Hi Guys
I have had a lump on the left side of my neck for two years, it isn't painful. I was told that it was a gland, so I forgot about it.

Last August I started to experience pain in my abdomen on the left side, and swelling, the consultant thought I was at least eight months pregnant!
I started to become ill, first off I had viral meningitis, followed by chicken pox then shingles, and countless flu symptoms and tiredness.

In June I started to chest pain (on the left side) at first I thought I was having a heart attack! Scans showed my spleen to be enlarged.

In the last few months I have been feeling worse, I have difficulty breathing and sound as if I have laryngitis a lot of the time, and it is areal struggle to speak. I have also had severe night sweats which involve soaking my pj's and my bed linen. I also itch ever such a lot, all over but mainly in my legs and feet. I am SO tired, and I have no appetite and I have lost weight. (I think that's everything!)

Yesterday I went to the hospital for an appointment, and they took bloods and the consultant wants to do a biopsy of the lump and take a sample of my bone marrow. I told him that my bloods keep coming back normal, apart from the inflammation marker goes up sometimes.

Does any one have similar symptoms, or could give me any advice please or may be thinks I am worrying for no reason.

Please let me know I would really appreciate it. Smile

Hi there, i probably won't be of much help. I also had a lump on my neck that was painless. I was also having chest pains, but on my right side. I had the lump cut out for biopsy and found out i have hodgkins lymphoma. But the scan on my chest did show enlarged lympnodes..so yours must not of.

Some of your symptoms you have are symptoms of lymphoma...such as the night sweats and weight loss. But that doesn't mean it is, of course. It is good that they are doing a biopsy of your lump...are they going to cut it out or do a need biopsy? I have heard that needle biopsys usualling come out inconclusive...mine did.

Good luck with everything, and don't start worrying until you actually know what it is. For it could just be nothing serious. And if it is lymphoma..it is very treatable. Please let us know what you find out! Just hang in there..i think waiting on results is the worst part!

Very Happy Thank you for your reply, I am not too worried, at the time of my scans they were only looking at one area and hadn't looked at any other nodes.

I am having the node in my neck cut out, especially as it has grown, the throat biopsy I am not quite so sure.

I have found another node in the collor-bone on the same side, and my consultant say's that some of the bloods have comr back higher than normal, I didn't ask which ones!!.

I am sorry to hear about the fact that you are ill, I can appriciate I must sound pathetic?

Thank you again for replying, best wishes Susie
