My mom has had this cancer for almost two years. So far, with little spread to other organs. We were just told that we should go home and keep her comfortable. I need advice from anyone that has gone through this or is going though this, about how to get nutrition into her. She is having such a hard time with diarreah. She takes about 10 immodium per day now along with her supplements that she has always taken since diagnosis (drug name escapes me now) Can anyone suggest what to do? She is having swelling that will not resolve at night as well. I won't get too detailed now but if anyone can help me - help her, I would really appreciate it. It seems her Dr. is willing to let her starve to death, but I am not.
HELP!
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!

Hello,

My wife has pancreatic cancer. She has had it about four months almost five and was given six months to live when this all started. She is now taking a liquid called MegAces ES. It is a concentrated form. It gives her an appetite that will not quit. She eats very well and in fact has gained some weight back. Make sure you ask the doctor for the concentrated form as the straight formula is very nasty tasting according to my wife. My wife has never had the diarhea problem. Hers has been the opposite. For her constipation we give her fiber laxative from Wal Mart. I hope this helps you and god bless you in your endeavors.

I will tell you that you have come to a web site forum where everyone here understands your pain and what you are going through and everyone genuinely cares. I speak that from experience. I have heard from some remarkable people on here and I know you will too

Again, God Bless you all

I believe I responded to one of your original posts...can really remember but anywho..My mom is much farther down the line than your beautiful wife. We have already been through the things you are fighting now and if you want to know anything, please just ask. I could write a book. I have learned that Doctors are on one side of the fence or the other. My moms was the other side. We asked for the Megace but were told that they never saw any benefit. If you look at the studies, although the patients increased their appetites, it didn't improve survival time. My mother currently weighs about 85 lbs. She fought the hardest battle and enjoyed much of her time. I don't regret that we fought and tried everything available, even studies. We went to MD Anderson and they helped so much.
If you would like to talk, just ask. I would be of as much help as I could.
Take care of your beautiful wife, encourage her, do everything NOW that you want to do. Throw caution to the wind my friend!
