I want to start a “fun” thread and think the “Lounge” is the place for it.
Does anyone know about any inspirational movies relating to cancer to recommend to the group? I know a couple but before I start my list let me just say that you might start a thread of your own with inspirational books, plays, music… You get the idea
Ok, back to movies:
“Phenomenon” with John Travolta is a “must see” for anyone with a glioma or any form of primary brain cancer.
“Dying Young” with Julia Roberts is a “must see” for anyone with Leukemia or anyone who is a caregiver to someone on chemotherapy.
Those are just two. Add to the list.

"Sweet November" with Keanu Reeves (as Nelson) and Charlize Theron (as Sara). I don’t like how it ends since Sara dies alone having told Nelson to leave her. I want to die surrounded by my friends and loved ones. _________________ Jim

"Wit"
It starred Emma Thompson, and was on HBO a few years back. I don't know if it's really inspirational, but it was really moving. About how people need people.

“Phenomenon” with John Travolta is great. I often watched this movie. It makes me feel better. _________________ Information & articles on mesothelioma

What about Stepmom? I think it's excellent.
By the way, there's an awesome online movie called "The Survivor Movie" which you should watch if you haven't seen it. _________________ Forget regret - or life is yours to miss. -Rent |

| "Ice Bound" with Susan Sarandon is about a doctor working down in Antarctica who discovers she has breast cancer. She has no way home for several months & has limited medical supplies. It's based on the true story of Dr. Jerri Nielsen. Very, very moving & insiprational. |

"Ice Bound" is a very inspirational story... especially since it is based on a true story! Unfortunately, it was a made as a "for TV movie" and so not readily available. However, the book is available and worth reading. _________________ Jim

These are not movies but could be very inspirational TV shows:
Survivors (not to be confused with Survivor, which is one of my favorite shows )---I think it starts this week on DHEALTH. It's about people who are surviving cancer.
Sexy Cancer---I think it starts this week as well, and is also on DHEALTH.
If there not on DHEALTH, then it's got to be either TLC or DISCOVERY.
Survivors looks like it will be pretty cool. _________________ Can miracles happen?

| I personally liked "The Family Stone". Excellent story, that hit home to me on more of a personal level, but I have watched it several times. Awesome flick! Also, My Life Without Me, yes, I agree and Sarah Polley is an awesome woman. I know her personally, she's a Toronto native gal, a great actress and is a wonderful director. |
