Hi All,
My Mom had another bad day today. She's having a hard time getting up out of her chair. She's completely losing strength in her legs and arms. She had an MRI scheduled for Feb 12th, but they moved it up to Monday. Anyway, that's not why I'm writing tonight. Some members of my family have come across a clinical trial involving SLT -3 Ligand??? No clue what this is about. I spoke with my Mom's neurologist, who by the way is a Godsend to us, and he said he was aware of it, but if it was him or a member of his family he would not try it and live the life that she has to the fullest. He said there has been no significant breakthroughs with Glioblastomas since 1970!!! He said "you won't find a person living that has been cured from an inoperable GBM". I'm feeling guilty for not pushing to take my Mom all over the world to find something that's going to cure her. She's against it, but I still feel some guilt for not exhausting every resource. Has anyone else gone through this??? Thank God for all of you!

Mom got to resume her treatments today!! Her white blood count and platelets doubled in a week. She was SOOO happy. It was a good day for us. I know radiation only prolongs the inevitable, but if she feels like it's her saving grace, so be it. At this point it's all about making her smile and feel like she's getting better every day!

Roxanne,
I think we all go through the need to research, investigate and dig for any little thing that may have been overlooked. I think we've all came to the same conclusion. There are some promising things out there on the horizon, but other than that, there is really only the mainstream treatment for the present time. I think it is easy to feel guilty because we all want to keep them as long as we can, but we also have to look at what they have said they want.

Hang in there, sounds like today was better.
Michele
