i had a liver resection aug 31, 2006. 60% was lopped off. even now, i feel a pretty constant dull pain in my liver. it doesn't hurt; i'm just particularly aware of where my liver is, if that makes any sense. it's just a kind of dull sensation. my oncologist says it's no big deal. catscans since then show no cancer activity in the liver (but there is in the lungs). anyone else?

I had my liver resected in September of '04. For several months, I could actually feel my liver move, which made me nauseas. Eventually that subsided.

I then could feel my liver, and on occasion to this day, like when I yawn real big, I can feel it. The doctors think I'm probably feeling the scar tissue.

I know I still feel the scar tissue by my appendix where I had an HAI pump inserted. So, my liver feels like that. Not a pain, but to me it feels like a cardboard box in there. Something that I feel, that I used to never feel.

mjd77,
A common syndrome felt by people after major surgery. One possibility is something similar to phantom limb. People, often soldiers, complain that they can feel a limb that has been amputated. The nerves despite being cut, still send messages that are incorrectly interpreted by the brain. Also, nerves in the abdomen cause referred pain, which means the sensations are misinterpreted by the brain as coming from somewhere else. Keep up with your surveillance program to be sure. Good luck.
