confusion

my mother has pancreas cancer, she is in the late stages, she is extremely confused. she is german but lives here in california with me and my father. my grandma from germany is over and she doesnt speak any english and i dont speak any german, when my mom talks it takes her a long time to say a simple sentence and she mixes german with english so both me and my grandma are confused. i have to repeat something 3-5 times before she understands what i said, is this normal?
my father thinks it is because her organs are starting to shut down, her nails are starting to become brittle and a yellow collor, its not jaundice. could someone help me with this cuz i believe it is because she is overdosing on drugs cuz she takes many pills a day for her pain, chemo, nausia and all that

When people are in the late stages of cancer, many things can cause a change in mental status from medications to fatigue. I hope you are working with a palliative or hospice team and maybe they can alleviate the situation. Best wishes,
