I am new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am an 8 1/2 year breast cancer survivor. Diagnosed in April 1996 with Stage 1 invasive ductal breast cancer in left breast. Had lumpectomy and node disection (all neg.), 6 1/2 weeks of radiation and 5 years of tamoxifen. I had scare in 2000 when calcifications under lumpectomy incision showed up on mamogram. Had stereotactic and excisional biopsies -- both negative. I post to some other breast cancer support boards, and will drop in here from time to time to lend support where I can.

I am a retired community journalist, married (40 years next June) with two grown children -- single DS (who is living at home) and married DD who lives with SIL and DGD in Indiana. DH and I live in suburb of Minneapolis. Glad to be of help when I can. Happy to meet you. Lauri Very Happy

Guess I will also introduce myself.

My name is Margie and I live in Maine with my husband and teenage son. My life was pretty much normal and good and then I found a lump in my breast in July 2003. It turned out to be invasive ductal and I'm sure you're all familiar with the story: I had two surgeries, chemo, 33 rads and am now taking Tamoxifen. I finished my treatments eight months ago but I still feel a need to belong to a support group! I hope to both give and receive support. My life is still good, just different. In August I celebrated my one year since diagnosis and am hoping to heck I never have any recurrence.

This looks like a great site! I see lots of familiar names - HI LAURI!!!!! And, of course, Dr. Leo sounds like a good guy and a good doc.

Hope to see and meet lots of nice folks here.

Hugs,

Margie

Hi Margie, Good to see you here, too. This looks like a good place to visit and having a doc on board is a real benefit. Hugs, Lauri

Hello Dr. Leo:

Thank you for this Forum and your concern for cancer patients. I'm new to breast cancer. I don't have enough information about my diagnosis or the outcome of my surgery yet, or let's just say that I have no idea how to convey it in the terms that are used around these forums. After being around the chat room and forum on breastcancer.org, my head is reeling. None of what they talk about has been discussed with me and my surgeon's office set up appointments for me; with a radiation oncologist on the 25th and a medical oncologist on the 26th. When my surgeon gets back from vacation, I will see him again and I'm afraid that I won't know the right questions to ask. This is a whole new world for me and I'm having a very difficult time understanding all of this. The more I read, the worse it feels. Crying or Very sad
