My husband passed away in sept. 06 from this awful disease..I have one question..He started sleeping with his eyes open not to terribly long after he was diagnosed..has anyone else had this happen and why do they do that...I could tell when he was actually sleeping but no one else could because he always looked like he was awake...any help would be appreciated...Best of luck to all of you who are dealing with this disease and may god bless you ..

degreen, i have no explanation to why this happens, but it happens to my mother as well, i hope someone can explain why this happens

My sister in law Kathleen, was diagnosed 2/06 and was taking morphine and other pain meds that altered her drastically. One effect was the ability to be "gone" with eyes wide open.
We, her family, with the help of hospice, finally got to try alternative meds until we found the one that held back the pain, yet gave us the real Kathleen again!
Obviously, we can't know your full situation, but I hope this offers an avenue of exploration.
