PLEASE BARE WITH ME..DONT KNOW WHAT TO THINK...grandma diagnosed with endometrial cancer stage 1b last year. Had TAH with staging, all clear including lymph nodes. Has had her regular check ups and everything has been good. GYN ordered ct of abd. and it came back abnormal with colon thickening. Pet scan ordered, found to be abnormal. colon is fine but two hot spots discovered, one in cervical verterbra and one in anterior carinal lymph node and end of trachea. CT of chest ordered, also finds abnormally enlarged anterior carinal lymph node measuring 3.6cm, consistent with malignancy. No other abnormalities detected. Some mesenteric nodularities in upper abd. suggested short term follow up in 3 months. Bone scan done, increased at T11, could be a fracture, truama or mets. Grandma had just fallen the day before. Xray requested. Mild tracer accumalation in skull, could be paget's disease. Now scheduled for needle bx of lung next week.

Question..could this be recurrent or metastic endometrial cancer. She had no radiation last year. oncologist said wasn't necessary for stage 1b.

Blood work done, all normal. Had cancer tumor markers done, all normal except for CEA which was slightly elavated at 2.8 (normal being 2.5). Dr. doesnt seem to be paying much attention to that.

GRANDMA IS 84 AND HAS NEVER FELT BETTER IN HER LIFE. ACTIVE, GOING OUT, SHE IS LIKE A 20 YR. OLD. MAKES ME FEEL OLD..LOL
she had chest xray done last year before surgery and 22 months ago which apparently were negative. can a chest x-ray miss this enlargedlymph node? im thinking that maybe this is new?

ANY ADVICE IS APPRECIATED. THANKS

citychick29,
Possible this is recurrent endometrial cancer, yes, but unlikely. The only way to know is to do a biopsy of one of these enlarged lymph nodes. At 84, she is at risk for a lot of cancer. Get a biopsy and then go from there. Good luck and keep us posted.
