Hi All

I joined this site in March of this year when my dad was diagnosed with GBM 4 - he has surgery, readio and temodol - unfortunately his GBM apperas to be very aggressive and he has landed up in hospital, had a seizure and has made a rapid decline since this last Sunday ( 27th May). He turns 66 tommorrow ( 1st June).

For those of you who have lost loved ones to this dreadful dosease - how long did the final stage take - he is at the stage where he is basically sleeping all the time - will open his eyes momentarily from time to time but that is all - not eating, talking etc.

I am so devastated to see him this way - I can't believe how quick this has been he was diagnosed 12 weeks ago only!

To those of you going through this - I wish you strength

Hi Karen~ I am so sorry your family is going thru this.

I am not a medical person, I can only tell you about my experience.
When my Dad reached the stage your Dad is at, he lived about a week. He was unresponsive and in a coma the last couple of days. Usually when they quit eating and drinking it isn't long.
I know how hard this is.......Just try and spend your time with him.....loving him, talking to him, touching him, and letting him know you're there.....
Let us know how you are.
God bless you and yours......
Kevan

Karen, my mother died with a GBM grade 4. Like Kevan's father, once she reached the point that she was no longer eating, it was a matter of days before she died. I am so sorry for you and your family. I wish I had better news to tell you. It was a very hard time in my life. I can only imagine how you must feel hearing this. I will keep you and your mother in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello, Karen - it is always hard to face this stage. I agree with Kevan. Do keep talking to him - hearing is one of the last senses to go - and holding his hand. Somehow the dying still sense the contact. I hope the release comes soon.
