I had a ct Wed of chest, abdomen and pelvis. The office told me Friday that the results were in but the doctor never gives results over the phone. So they scheduled me for the next available appt in 8 days.
Now I want to believe that if there was anything questionable they would see me asap. But my question is has anyone else had to wait a week for test results that were indeed cancer or questionable????
I am obviously scared due to a lot of symptoms plus lately weird pain and cramping in my pevis. I have even packed a hospital bag one night thinking if it gets worse I will be ready.
I don't want anyone to bs me!!! Just tell me the truth. Has anyone had to wait for bad resluts. Or would they have seen me the next day??????

Thank you for your time and input. I pray someone answers this soon!!!!

God bless
Deena

Deena, waiting can be very hard. Every cancer is different so it is not easy to give you a blanket answer to your question. I had primary brain cancer. After the biopsy, I had to wait several month to see the doctor... not because I neglected to call... I called almost every week! The delay was due to some special tests to determine the exact "flavor" of my cancer. However, I am sure that if I were about to die at any moment or if any delay put my life at greater risk, the doctor would have seen my sooner. I think I can say the same for you too. Eight days may seem a lot for you, but it probably is not increasing the risk you face. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Let us know what you find out.

Hi, Deena,
I agree with Brainman; it depends. If it is any consolation to you, I had tests/scans done and saw the GP who had ordered them just three days later (she had made two misdiagnoses by LOOKING at me--literally, with her eyes-- in the 10 months prior to my correct diagnosis; so she was a bit nervous, I think, when the 13 1/2 cm mass showed up in my trachea on a chest x-ray). Things happened VERY quickly, at least getting moved from specialist to specialist happened quickly. Surgeon for biopsy, consultation with hema/onc. It was torture waiting for the biopsy results (it only took three days but it may as well have been three years). It was less than 2 weeks from that chest film to my first treatment.

The waiting is the hardest part. Not knowing can be more scary than the final diagnosis. Those of us blessed (?) with vivid imaginations can have a rough time trying to keep the scenarios positive. I hope the time until your appointment passes quickly for you.

Wishing you the best of health,
Jessica
