I'm new to all this. My brother was just diagnosed and it MIGHT be GBM(?).

I know there's a reason, but I want to hear what the reason is. Why can't doctors 'simply' leave a covered hole in the skull and whenever the tumor returns (typically to the same location, right?) and is of a significant size, reach in and pull it out - over and over and over? Why would they ever need to stop removing it?

Thank you very much and if you're a believer, please pray for him. He is such a humble and good person, with two young boys. There were 3 of us in my family, but my sister was murdered and now there's 2. Crying or Very sad

I am so sorry for your losses pairunoyd! To have your sister murdered and now your brother to have a GBM is terrible!! I guess there are many reasons why the doctors would close the opening. Here are just a couple that I can think of: 1. Danger of infection inside the brain if they only cover it, 2. Your brother would have to remain practically full time in bed if there is a hole in his head only covered by some material. I do not know how many surgeries your brother will have to have, but it is not as simple as reaching in and pulling the bad stuff out.

I will keep you and your brother and his family in my thoughts and my prayers.
