I've been a longtime lurker and a very few poster.

My mother passed away July 12th of lung cancer that had metastized to her brain and then her liver and back. She was 56 years old and has four children, me being in the middle and only girl.

I live in Colorado and she lived in California. Since she was diagnosed in December (two weeks before x-mas) I had been going out to California to visit her every month for about a week. I didn't know when she would go or how much time she had left so I took it upon myself to see her and spend time with her. I am so glad I did.

The last visit I had with her at the end of June was a good one. But she had lost a lot of weight and was still picky about eating. She wasn't in "too much" pain. My brothers called me and told me the pain was unbearable a few days later.

We called hospice in a few days after I left and I thank the Lord that we did. They put her on a pain management program, hospital bed and nurse supervision each day but she was out of it, but comfortable.

I spoke to her a few days after hospice came in and I know the last thing we said to each other was "I love you".

She was a fighter until the end, still cracking jokes. I'll always remember that. I've been robbed and cheated out of a mom, she was taken way too soon. Hopefully the Lord has a plan for her.

Thanks for Listening.

I also am sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and did everything possible to have quality time with her. She was lucky to have such a wonderful family taking care of her and you should be proud of yourselves. It does feel like you've been robbed -- I lost my Mom fairly young also. My sincere sympathy and prayers for comfort during this time.

Lisa,
I am so sorry to hear about your mothers passing x I am not very good on this site yet so instead of replying to your email that you sent me a few days ago, I actually replied to my own name by accident. If you go to my name (DeeVQ) post dated 9th aug 2007 and scroll to the bottom you will see my reply.
Thinking of you,
Dawn
