Hi, my cousin (age 54) had a breast cancer operation in July, her condition is: ER(-) PR(-) CerbB-2(+++)
Her doctor told her that her post operation condition isn't very good; diagnosis showed there's a relatively high chance of re-occurence. She doesn't live in the U.S. and I believe she's on chemotherapy now. I was wondering if there's any medication that's available in the U.S. or any resources/options that might help with her condition? We would be very thankful and appreciate any advice you could offer. Thank you very much!

Hi,
In what respect is her doctor saying things aren't looking good? What was her dx as far as Stage, lymph nodes involved etc. I'd find out if she is taking chemo. I've never heard of CerbB-2(+++), but with there being 3 +'s after it, it very well be what is called Her2 in the States. Here, they give Herceptin for ladies that are Her2 +++ along with chemo and radiation if that's needed also.
If she's not comfortable with her oncologist, there is nothing wrong with her getting a 2nd opinion.
Please let us know more info when you get it.
Prayers to you both. _________________ Nancy

| Thank you very much Muttsmom, I learned of her condition tonight from her son on MSN. I am sorry I couldn't describe her condition more clearly, since I don't know much about breast cancer and I had to translate what he told me. This was saddening news to me and I would really like to help her. I will try to find out more about her condition, and I really appreciate your help. |

Hi,
Try to find out what Stage she is and what kind of breast cancer she has. If he could e-mail you her pathology report that would be a big help. We could help you to understand what a lot of it means, that sounds like jumbled up letters to all of us in the beginning. Do you know if she had a lumpectomy or a mastectomy and if lymph nodes were removed?
What country does she live in?
I'll do my best to help explain what I can with the information you can get and again, the pathology report would be a huge help. _________________ Nancy

| Thank you again. She lives in China. Her doctor suggested a u.s. manufactured medication. Her son wanted to know more about that and if there's other options available in the U.S. He did not tell me all the details of her condition and the medication, maybe because he's also trying to get in touch with a cousin who's pursuing a pharmacist degree in the US, who is better able than myself to discuss the subject with him. I have just shared this site and this thread with both of them. I am trying to help her in my own limited way... I hope they will make use of this great resource. |

Do you know the name of the medication that her doctor said was made in the U.S.?
Let us know whatever info you can get.
You can see on most of our signature lines the kind of treatment each of us had. Chemo's are abbreviated and radiation is "rads" etc. and what kind of surgery we had. _________________ Nancy
