Hi all,

My name is Loren and I am a CLLer. I was dx in December of 2002 and received FCR right away. I have been in remission 4 years this month.

I stumbled upon this board just the other night and was shocked and even disappointed at the lack of participation here at least in the Leukemia forum. If I might make a suggestion to the mods, and that is to create sub forums for the different types of CLL since they are different and treated differently. It might encourage participation since one would not have to wade through all the unrelated threads. I am not familiar with your forum software and sub forums may be not be an option. I would genuinely like to see this board get kick started and become viable. Sometimes this is the only means of support a CLLer or caregiver has. It is a shame to look at so many threads with 1,2 or even 0 responses. That is not satisfactory IMHO.

So I am calling all my brothers and sisters to arms. One person cannot make a board successful, it takes a group effort. And it is also necessary to want to get to know each other, I do not mean we have to divulge personal info but at least be open with the group and share in the effort to combat this disease or even just to live with it. I have CLL so there is not much you can say that will shock me nor turn me away. I belong to many boards and some are successful and some are not. Any place that can provide help and support I want to see be successful.

I am an Admin at one of these boards I speak of. I am not here to steal members. This board needs to be successful for the good of all CLLers and all cancer patients in general. The more resources we have the better it is for everyone. Many members at my board frequent lots of boards and that is just fine. We have a common bond in CLL and each board offers something a little different.

I applaud Jim (brainman) (and any other mods) for their efforts in trying to keep this board going, but as I said one person (or 3 people) is not enough. If memebrs do not participate no one will win.

Ok, I have said my piece now and I leave it to you all to get involved. There is no reason this board cannot be successful unless we allow it to wither and fade away.

Take care and be well! I pray for each and every one of you every day!

God bless you all,

Loren

Like you I want to see a success with this forum.
I realise that here, there is not alot of Cervical Cancer discussions etc. Which i may/ maynot be able to advise or help.

But i do offer any kind words, support or encouragement. To any, and all cancers and boards/ topics. I also understand that many others maynot know what to say or worry about ill advice in a subject they don't know. So some do not reply or post.

Inica

Thanks for the response Inica. We are not doctors so any advice given should be taken with a grain of salt. What is really needed is the flow of information such that it provokes thought and more questions. It is by that means that we can better understand not only each other but the nature of each of our diseases. Is my primary focus cervical cancer? No it is not, but I still can provide support even without knowledge of the disease. And I think that is what you have just said. In time I will learn simply by interacting with others. I will not become an expert but perhaps I can come to understand what the issues are that others face.

You seem willing to participate and I appreciate that. I hope others do as well and will follow that lead in time.

So how are you doing?

Take care and be well.

Regards,
Loren
