My upper arm is 3 inches bigger than the other. My armpit is so swollen I cannot put my arm down all of the way. My surgery was on the 21st of August. There were complications, the surgeon missed a blood vessel and had to go back in later after I started blacking out and my blood pressure got so low it couldn't be read.
Out of 17 nodes 1 was positive for cancer. No I don't know which one.
I saw the surgeon this last Wednsday and asked him about it my arm and pit area. He was no help and another doctor told me it could be fixed, he would cut off the excess skin. WHAT?
I do have these drainage port things, I will have them till the 5th I think. But I am not noticing any difference.

I remember being swollen and also in quite a bit of pain. Once I was able to lift my arm a little, it looked like my arm pit wasn't where it use to be. This all changed after healing time. You need to be sure and do the exercises you were given. I babied my arm because it hurt so bad and that just made matters worse, and I didn't get the range of motion back that I should have. I have 100% range of motion back and have had no problems at all.

The drain stays in until the blood and gook it gets is down to a certain level. One stayed in a week and one time, it stayed in 3 weeks. I'd rather leave the drain in until it was ready to come out, then have to go in and have it aspirated.

If you keep your arm elevated when you're laying down, that will help.

Best wishes
