is it true that treatment for hodgkin's lymphoma makes you infertile? is there any chance of having kids without freezing eggs? as in, did anyone manage to have children despite undergoing this treatment?

Hi coco- sorry i can't help- but would suggest to ask your doctor, or medical team. I have heard of cases where they have had treatment and have fallen, with no help..... But i don't know what treatment, or when or how......so best to ask someone who is working your case.

Hope it helps a little.

I'm currently being treated for Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I am a 27 yr old female without kids. My doctor was very worried about the damage the treatment could do to my reproductive system. He referred me to a fertility doctor who said the studies showed that ABVD does not cause infertility. She gave me the option to get an injection of Lupron every month. The use of Lupron is still under research. What Lupron does is stop your menstrual cycle during chemo. Researchers hope that since the female is not ovulating this will help to keep a woman's eggs from being damaged.

What the fertility doctor did mention is that radiation does cause infertility (this also depends on the amount of radiation). She adviced me to let her know if my Oncologist decides to give me radiation.

I suggest you speak to your doctor about your concerns. I saw two different Oncologists before starting treatment and they both referred me to a fertility doctor which makes me assume this is customary before starting treatment.

Good Luck,

Patricia
