My wife had an egg shaped tumor and about 10 " of her colon resectioned laprascopically last Wednesday. They released her from the hospital on Saturday. But she is in severe pain(8 on a scale) most of the day except when sleeping from medication. The majority of the pain is at the point of the resection. Is it common for severe pain to last this long after surgery? Thank you. Frank

Frank, I am so sorry about your wife's cancer and post surgery pain. Have you called her doctors to ask if there is anything else you can do to help her? I do not have any personal experience with colon surgery so I do not know what options are available. However, I do hope that her doctors can find a solution. It may be just a matter of time... she probably does need to sleep anyhow. Maybe with time and healing, the pain will decrease and she can return to some normal life.
