Hi Everyone,
My mother was diagnosed Oct 24th with pancreatic cancer that has spread to the liver. I am trying to learn as much as possible about this disease. Can anyone offer some good websites that provide more indepth info? Nutritional info? Alternative treatments? Any help is appreciated. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

DF: Newer users cannot post links but here are a few sources I used.
1) National Cancer Institute - cancer.gov
2) pancreasdisease.com
3) USC PancreasCancer Center - just google it
I just spent time on the PC in Google & found lots of good info. Good Luck |

| Forgot about that one S1958 mentioned which I only found recently. I callled & ordered the booklet "understanding Pancreatic Cancer" which arrived quickly as promised. It would have been even more helpful earlier (it is very confusing in the beginning) but the info on post-op Chemo / radiation treatment and remaining chapters were worthwhile for my Mom's purposes. |

| Perhaps you didn't find it helpful but I certainly did. It should be the decision of the reader to see if they find it helpful to them or not, I posted for anyone who wants to read up on the disease since one would be at the beginning stage of researching, which I found it to be a great start of learning about the disease...... |

S1958: Let's not hijack this thread.
But You totally mis-construed my comments. I was actually completely supporting your suggestion to contact The Lustgarten Foundation.
When I said it was confusing in the beginning = I was talking about Pancreatic Cancer ........not the booklet.
The beginning for my Mom was July when the long mysterious illness was finally confirmed as cancer. Her operation was in September....I found the web site in late October...and the booklet arrived in Early Nov....her Chemo/radiation treatments will hopefully start soon. So we had already learned by confusion, research & personal experience the subjects covered by the first few chapters of the booklet. I'll write more clearly in the future.
The web site has other helpful areas such as the section called "ask the experts".
It's a helpful site.............all of them help in one way or another depending on the unique circumstance the patient & caregivers find themselves in at the time. Peace. |
