Hi Forum Members,

Thanksgiving is upon us. Most years on this day we would go to my parents house for all the fixins and not leave until we were plenty stuffed Laughing This year I am finding it difficult to even want to go Crying or Very sad My mom has been gone since Oct. 23, and I am finding it very sad to think of my first Thanksgiving without her. I am not going to be joining my family tomorrow. This does not mean I am not thankful.. I am very thankful for ALL that God has blessed me with this year and every year. For all the forum members who still have their loved ones this thanksgiving, I wish you the most blessed day. For all the forum members who have lost their loved ones, I wish you all a blessed day as well, and I know that I will not be the only one very sad tomorrow. The holidays are going to be so hard, but I will survive, I just need some time. So whatever your situation or plans we all have a lot to be thankful for. God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I understand your pain completely. I lost my mom september 21st, and the pain is still very real. I told my sister I wish the world would forget the holidays this year, but who am I kidding? My family has chosen me to take over in moms place to cook this year, which is very hard to do, but I know I have to, just to be strong for my dad, who is having a very hard time. And you are right, we still have alot of things to be thankful for, God has blessed me also. Just imagine what a wonderful holiday our moms are having in heaven! God bless you, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Hugs to both of you and everyone else for this Thanksgiving.

My adult children (those in state) and I are just going to lay low for the day tomorrow. Lost my husband last month and really have no great desire to pretend about this holiday. I am grateful for many, many things, but don't need to stress over a turkey and all the fixings to add to my plate this year. (All pun intended!)

A peaceful quiet day sounds best to me.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. For some of us, like you mommysgirl, this is our first Thanksgiving without someone dear to us. For others of us, it is another in a long string of Holidays that are filled with mixed emotions: happy memories and sad memories as well.

I will spend this Thanksgiving alone for the first time. Last Thanksgiving, my sibling where here. My daughter, her husband, and my grandson came by tonight on their way to my son-in-law's home. I met them at the Intestate exit and we ate our "Thanksgiving Meal" at a restaurant so that they could jump back on the Interstate for 2 more hours. I held my grandson all through the meal Very Happy. One generation is gone but another follows closely behind. I do wish my father had lived long enough to see his first great-grandson.

Mommsgirl, I changed your post to a "global announcement". Thank you for starting this topic. I know what it is like the first Thanksgiving after the death of someone so close. Your mother lives on in your memories.

I wish everyone the most blessed day for Thanksgiving.
In the Netherlands we don't know anything about Thanksgiving and we do not celebrate it. But when i was with my sister a few years ago ( she lives in Oregon, USA and also has a braintumor ) we did ofcourse celebrate it.
My thouhgts will be with every member of this forum.

Andrea.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Yes it's tough to celebrate the holidays without loved ones, but always try to make the best, and like what "In" said, remember the fun time and treasure the moments. I remember when I was receiving treatment in 04 during the Thanksgiving week, and it was a little depressing, but fortunately my family did visit me and brought me food. Smile Wish you all well!
