Hello~
My brother (47) had severe back pain and was taken to the emergency room where he was EVENUTALLY diagnosed with cancer although they cannot specify the type. All I know is that a tumor "burned itsself out" on his kidney. They are also confused as they say they are looking for the "mother" cancer and cannot find. Still, 10 weeks after diagnosis and constant re prescribing pain medication, they now say chemo is not an option as he is now diagnosed with Hep C so they will do 20 or so radiation treatments. Three "specialists" cannot come up with the same diagnosis yet all are saying "don't worry, it can be cured. Why can't they agree on the type and treat it accordingly? Very confused sister. SinThea

I mean no disrespect to this group nor professionals of this group but I am frantic. I mean, 10 weeks without any treatment has me extremely worried as well as their non ability to diagnose this. My brother has had CT's PETs' biopsies etc and the physicians are stumped! Yet they claim this is 99% curable. How is that? They claim his immune system is phenomonal. I am just owrreid they are mssing something and it will be too little too late. Also, just in November , my Grandfather found a lump of the thorax, 5 weeks later he was dead so I am a little gun-shy....Still Frantic SinThea

Hello

I am sorry that you and your family are having this experience. While I can not tell you what he has, I would advise you to write down whatever they are saying he has and do some research on it. Ask specific questions. They should be able to answer it as you say they know what it is.

regards,
Leo

Thank you for your response, Leo...I see you keep up with many forums. One Dr. has stated lymphoma but will not state the type, he is only guessing. Another said Germ Cancer...looks like I have a lot of research to do. BTW-I live 4 hours from my brother and am getting bits and pieces but no one has been told a type yet. I made them promise to write it down so I can research if the Doctors ever find what they are treating. I am just trying to figure out why they cannot come up with a name even after at least 6 biopsies, several CT's, Pets and other tests. I mean, how do they know it is cancer if they cannot determine the type? Thank you again, SinThea

SinThea

I agree with you. Sometimes the biopsy results are "inconclusive", and often they have to do more tests and stains on the biopsy specimen. It may be difficult to determine what type of cancer it is.

Let me know if I can help you further !

best of lucK

Well, I have found they are "putting their heads together" at Johns Hopkins, all results sent there. A Team is trying to decipher typing, stage; although they will start radiation next week, I think. Maybe they can determine the type, cause or ideology. I just lost my other brother one year ago with another disease so I guess I am a little protective of this one. Funny, I'm in perfect health. Anyway, enough sentiments...thank you Leo and if I find a type or anything and have a question, I hope you will be available to answer..SinThea

SinThea,

be happy someone is doing something, i have had strep staph and yeast in my feet in August of 2004, i had some spots on my hands prior to this but were overlooked when i went to have something cut off of my shoulder, now they are gone. The staph and stuff in my feet were diagnosed by a dermatologist after a culture was done. Well she put me on antibiotic after antibiotic, i went to another doctor who put me on yet, another antibiotic and a antidepressant, made me worse, feet cleared up on levequin but now my skin has changed all over my body, went to another doctor after i told this one i had concerns for cancer, he told me i am a hypochindriac, needless to say went to another doctor who blew off the spot in the back of my throat then showed up, he put me on yet another antidepressant rather then checking into the situation after countless requests to be screened for cancer due to mother and father both dying of cancer. quit going to him , went to a cancer center they told me my feet were just scaly, never have been just scaly in my life, i dont think they have heard of foot cancer, but hey this is spreading now, now my gums are receeding, and yet no one has done any blood work anywhere or even checked for cancer, they are writing me off it seems. this is a shame i am a public servant and 33 yrs old. thi sis ridiculous, so at least be thankful that someone found this and it has been diagnosed, could be in my boat and be setting here slowly dying and no one caring. i am sure someone on here will say boy sounds like you have anxiety or depression, nah im just chapped getting done this way, suppossed to go to the doctor tomorrow morning , now i have a boil on my back but they ll probably tell me it is a pimple, lol never seen a pimple this big but whatever. lol this is totally unreal, this is like my own personal hell im going through.
