|
|
My friend has stomach pain from the medications she's taking.
Currently, she's taking:
1) Tarceva
2) Fentinal (for cancer pain)
3) Vicodyn (for cancer pain)
Is there any medications that can help her upset stomach?
Would simple Pepto Bismo be enough?
Many thanks for anyone's input!
God bless! |

I have no idea when it comes to medications etc, as i was lucky not to have to have any.
Just wanted you to know someone will respond to you about this as soon as possible.. I'm thinking of you , and your friend. _________________ Thinking of you Inica

Has she talked to her doctor about this? Is it actual pain or nausea she has? If it is actual pain, they must consider whether these are the right drugs for her. If it is nausea, there are other medications to help.
However, she should also ask if the combination of medications is perhaps underlying the problem and if so, what do they suggest. |

perhaps the pain is from the acetaminophen in the vicodin...your friend should talk to his/her doctor about switching to pure hydrocodone or oxycodone
also is the fentanyl in patch form? |

I have been suffering from an upset tummy ever since I went through my WBR back in November 2007. A pregnant relative gave me some "Preggie Pop Drops" to try, they are excellent for Morning Sickness and contain natural oils or something like that - they work a treat for me! When I get up I suck on one for ten minutes and it helps settle my stomach for the day.
It's not painkilling at all, just helps settle the stomach Couple that with the occasional swig of Gaviscon (not sure what the US equivalent is) and it's just about manageable.. _________________ Ongoing blog: http://www.riddlermarc.co.uk |

For almost instant pain relief my ex sucks on a fentanyl lozenge of 800mg he also has a patch every three days but the losenges seem to work very quickly. He has stomach upset and pain as he has had a range of medications and treatments over the past two and a half years. Now the Doctor has prescribed two meds to settle his stomach and they seem to help somewhat. They are Sulcralfate (an old drug used for ulcers) and Pariet as newer drug.
I hope your doctors will be able to help with this stomach problem. All the best. _________________ Ex husband's diagnosis was January 2006, stage IV bowel cancer with mets to liver and lungs. Two years of continuous chemo, folfox then folfirri. On MAX chemo now. Has had radiation to pelvic area and radioactive SIRT spheres injected through the portal vein into the liver. |
