Hi Im Libby. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for roughly 2 years without success. I was really scared to go to the OB/GYN because I thought it would be too awkward. Now I really regret not going sooner. The reason I finally broke down and went to the OB/GYN is because I stopped having my period and thought I might finally be pregnant, just for some reason it wasn't showing up on store bought tests. After getting my first ever pap results back, my doctor called me to say the test results were abnormal and that they wanted to do a colposcopy and start me on a medication called Medroxyprogesterone (a medication to help my period start again..I haven't had a period since 9/24/07). I went in and picked up the perscription and scheduled an appointment for the procedure. Once I got to the doctors office she told me a little bit more more about what they actually found in the pap. Cancer cells. She said they needed to do the colposcopy to help determine what stage it was. Well Tuesday I had that procedure done, and I am waiting nervously for the call to come with the results. I'm trying in the meantime so not get too frustrated about it and try to piece some things together. I wonder if anyone else has been through this and what the outcome was. Also, the thing that still really gets me is that I have now finished the medication to make my period come, and it still hasn't. Could cancer cause this?
Im sorry this is so long, Im just so frustrated and Im hoping to find other people that can share what I am going through.
Thanks,
Libby |

My Dearest Libby,
My name is Inica- Don't ever apologise for a long post- That is what this forum is all about. It is a place to share our deepest fears, our great news and even our funny stories.
I have/had Cervical Cancer, My story is below in my signature. Have a look and you'll see what i have gone through but alos that I have had a child despite the Cancer, opp, etc.
Myself and Kat, have gone through everything you have and are going through right now. And worse. We are here for you. We will hold your hand and help you along. We will suport you and your Husband.
Don't get too worried at this moment- (Hard I know), but there is many levels-stages of Cervical Cancer. There is also a big difference to abnormal (cancerous) cells and actual cervical Cancer...
There is many treatments for All of these diagnosis. There is also hope of a Child- Just ask Kat or myself...
The question of your missing period= It could be the medication, but i would asume your body not having a period in a while, might be a little confused * BUT I do think it is stress, the worry of being pregnate or not, but now the stress of all this other worry......Try to relax, let out all your emotions and questions and try not to stress. (Alot of proffesionals believe stress can acelerate Cancer growth -Shrug- ) Do ask, call, you OBYN/GYN If and why this is not happeining, if you need to have this answered before your next app. *she did say she'll ring about the results etc, so maybe ask then*.
Try not to go overboard on information, if you a natural worry wart. Sometimes it freaks you out more and brings those stress levels up. Look into options, information and treatments etc, WHEN that time comes.
How are you holding up? How is your Husband? (we often forget the men) Feel free to rant and rave here, and please let us know how you are going- I'm sure Kat will meassage real soon too.
Please feel free to Personal Message me, or post anything in my thread. I will get back to you, and help all I can.
Take Care. Inica _________________ Thinking of you Inica

Hi Inica,
Wow, reading through your story, I can tell you have been through a lot! Thats just insane! I didn't even know you could get cancer in your nose.
My doctor is supposed to call me on Tuesday to let me know what the pathologist found, I guess there really is no reason to worry between now and then since its only a couple days away and worrying won't change what she tells me. I'm hoping to get my period pretty soon, ever since i first started it has been regular, never ever missed one until now. My doctor has given me about 4 urine pregnancy tests and I have taken several on my own, all results negative. This is just so unusual for me. I have heard of several women that urine tests didn't work even several months into their pregnancy. They got their results with a blood test. I still have a small hope inside of me that I -could- still be pregnant but I'm making sure to not set myself up for disappointment.
Im really glad I have you guys to talk to because I don't have any family to talk to except my husband. He isn't exactly the type of person to share my concern about this, I think if I told him I cut my finger making dinner he would have had the same reaction. He doesn't worry about anything and it sometimes makes me feel better because I realise I'm probably worrying for nothing.
I'll talk to ya later,
Libby |

Men-
My husband- Matt is the same- Matt has told me that he was soooo worried, But didn't show it-(to make me feel at ease). He said whats the point in making you feel worse or stressed worse- knowing that he is too. He is a 'lets just wait and see' person- theses kind of guys think they are helping us, when sometimes we need a cry, a shoulder, a ear or even them to show some emotion.....
Though i must admit- it did keep me pretending to be cool about it and not stressed so much- I guess if he was stressing too, i would be worse.
Please let me know how things go, and give Hubbie a big cuddle and Kiss. They feel it too- even if not showing it. _________________ Thinking of you Inica

Hey there, well I got the call today. She said they found cancer cells in the biopsy but not on the swab test. They want the do the LEEP procedure, its scheduled for the 12/18. The hub is a little worried, but he will be ok. So will I.
Im really not looking forward to this test, it sounds really uncomfortable. She said they would numb the area up first...NEEDLES?!?! Down there?! Eeeek!!!!
But hopefully all goes well and they will stop taking pieces of me after this next procedure... finger are crossed!
Take care,
Libby |

Hi Libby-
Glad you finally got the call- even if for that news Things will be ok- no need to cross anything for you, but i will. When will this be happening? A leep is ok. This will help remove as much as they can and have it tested etc. It's not too evasive and little pain as possible.
It shouldn't effect you too much, and even able to have babies etc. It is uncomfortable- but i found the same amount as a smear- and then a few stings here and there. Though you will have some bleeding and cramps, etc.
You have the right Attitude babe- keep it up.
Again- pm, or mesage if need anything....
OH, and the MOST important thing- the sympathy winge... " Darling....Could you make me a nice cup of tea?.....Arrr what a little piece of chcolate would make me feel better......Oh, could you rub my back sweetie, a little tension there ....

So I finally got my period... I think. I'm cramping like crazy but barely spotting. My body is finally doing something anyway .
For those of you who have had the LEEP procedure done, did that clear things up for you, or were there more things they like do to after that? Its starting to seem like never-ending tests! I suppose it depends if they think they got it all out.
I hope everyone is doing well and having fun holidays! Take care.
