|
|
Hi to everyone.
Within the last couple of weeks, I have received several messages about members posting spam through the PM system. Thanks to other members, I have been able do identify those spammers and deleted their memberships. PLEASE, FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION, TO NOT OPEN LINKS EITHER POSTED ON THE FORUM OR GIVEN TO YOU VIA A PRIVATE MESSAGE. Instead, PM me with the username... not a link to your PM in question. I do not have access to your Private Messages even if you give me a link to it.
Thanks to all of you for helping keep the CancerForums safe for everyone. _________________ Jim

I have received dozens of PM's giving usernames to me about new members sending links via the Private Message system. None of these new members has ever posted a message to the forum. It is obvious that spammers are getting wise and know that we take spamming very seriously.
I want to thank all of you who are sending me the usernames of these individuals. I again warn everyone to not open unsolicited links... especially if they come from members who you do not otherwise recognize. Many of us do use links to provide you was more information than we feel comfortable giving ourselves. But some innocent looking links will redirect you to other sites which are not so innocent. I have come across a number of links that say they are "blogs" but which are actually are porn sites. My system has a corporate grade anti-virus/anti-spyware/firewall, so I feel safe checking websites to make sure they are safe. But a vast majority are not safe. I download at least one virus a day and a number of spyware cookies from links posted by new members.
I hope that the new board will have a way to automatically delete links. I am afraid that when I die, no one will continue to do the "job" I do. _________________ Jim

No problem little star. Just be sure to check your system for viruses or spyware. A lot of comercial sites have cookies that they add to your computer. If you are going to checkout links, be sure it if from someone you know and trust and not from a new member who has never posted before. _________________ Jim

Maybe we should make a "spammer dumpster" at the bottom of the forum where all the spammers and bots can sit and spam each other. Sort of like a "spammer prison" then...get this...we find out things about them...say, their e-mail or something...and spam them. It would be such fun.
Seriously..I wish people would get a grip and grow up. Lame and sick spamming, let alone going to a forum such as this and spamming members with some woodo all natural cure everything crap that I wouldn't feed my dog. There is some good natural things out there that improve health greatly, but after being spammed, I feel much less likely to even consider their products. It's not even good marketing. |
