I'm stage 4E getting ready to do my 4th treatment on Thursday.. anybody else stage 4? Id love to know of some people who actually got into remission with this..
Im also on every 2 week chemo instead of every 3, and also have started a new regimen called DR-COP.. (Doxil, Rituxan, Cytoxan, Oncovin, Prednisone) due to my left ventricular function taking a dump from 69% to 55%.. (Adriamycin caused).. is anyone else on Doxil instead of Adriamycin? Theres a few clinical trials out there right now comparing the 2, thinking Doxil might actually be taken up by tumors better.
What is everyone else doing? Im nervous that Im not doing the standard CHOP-R anymore.. although I did get 2 rounds of it.

Hi Kara,
I'm also in stage 4, and have a sub-type of Diffuse Large B-Cell called Mediastinal Large B-Cell Lymphoma.
I was given 6 courses of R-ProMace Cytabom (Rituxan, Adriamycin, Etoposide, Prednisolone, Cytarabine, Bleomycin, Vincristine, Methotrexate) then 2 courses of a salvage regimen, R-DHAP (Rituxan, Dexamethasone, Cisplatin, Cytarabine)
All involved sites except the main tumor in my chest cleared up after 3 chemos, but after a total of 8 the main tumor was still there. (It had shrunk to 1.4cm x 1.0cm from an initial size of 10cm x 7cm x 12cm). My doc said i've had enough chemos so I underwent radiotherapy to get rid of the residual tumor. My doc is confident that I will achieve a remission after this (I will have another PET scan soon to find out!)
Take care,
Cubie |

For some reason chemo doctors don't want to mention radiation until that is all that is left. After my transplant I still had a small amount of tumor left. I was told to see a radiation oncologist as soon as possible. I found out after talking to him that secondary cancers are less likely with radiation than that of some chemo drugs. My tumor that refused to respond to chemo and didn't go away completely disappeared completely with 30 days of radiation. I recommend anybody with a tumor to talk to a radiation oncologist. _________________ Wayne

@Kara:
You will always be in my prayers Kara..
I too was diagnosed with diffuse Large B cell mediastinal Lymphoma on Jan1st 2007 with tumor dimensions measuring 14cm X 12cm X 9cm).
Kinda life got back to normal now. Received aggressive chemo and radio and wat not. Now back to sports and gymming..
CHOP-R is the standard adopted by onco s worldwide although i ve heard
Doxil is working for a few cases. Please consult an experienced onco who can clearly take smart decisions on the course of your treatment based on your response to the drugs.
Yes, CHOP-R is dreaded... feels like making a trip to the execution chamber each time ... but are we left with another option dear?!
@ niki, Cubie...
Nice knowing you. Please connect with more ppl and lets get more involved with educating the crowd. |

I leave today, headed to Stanford to start REPOCH. I understand it was recently published for NHL large B cell. I am told it has a much better cure rate than RCHOP.
Wish me luck and good luck to you |

| NHL large cell diffuse after 11 years still in remission. I still have joint pain from the treatments, still seem to be a bit forgetful from the chemo, and I get tired easily, but other than that, I lead a normal life and have had a child. I hope this gives you all a bit of hope realizing that this can be beat. |
