Hello all!
I am writing to say how thankful I am to this site for helping me through a difficult time in my life. My husband was diagnosed with low grade follicular NHL Stage 1-B in August of 2006 after noticing a small lump on his cheek (age 29). Somehow I think he knew right away that it was cancer but I thought it was a cyst or some kind of oral infection. He had it removed and was diagnosed a couple weeks later. The Dr was very concerned that his facial nerve would be effected and he would be left paralyzed but it was more important to the Dr to take the tumor as a whole instead of "dissecting" it off of the nerve, to help avoid the cancer from spreading I suppose. Fortunately, he suffered no complications- his surgeon was amazing. They performed a CT scan, MRI, PET and bone marrow biopsy and found some small nodes in his abdomen. They did not believe that this was due to the lymphoma, b/c we all can have lymph nodes left in our body due to the common cold or an infection etc (he had a horribly infected appendix a couple years prior) so they chose to treat his head with radiation for 30 days. I can tell you that I went from thinking he had an ulcer or a cyst to thinking he was going to pass from the illness within 3-5 years based on what I was reading on the internet until I found this site. Granted, you are not talking to your oncologist on this site, but there are extremely educated, supportive, and compassinate people here that helped calm my nerves. My husband and I got married this last May after being together for 9 years. He had his last set of scans last Month and the nodes in his abdomen are the same size. He has no previously noted symptoms (low grade fever, night sweats, cough). His radiation oncologist was following research that suggests that low grade follicular may be curable if found in one site of the body but that it is hard to tell because low grade means slow growing. I feel in my heart that he is going to be ok, not b/c I am sure that the cancer will never come back, but b/c I know that I will be there for him and that sites like this will be there for me- to all those who are here supporting friends or family members with lymphomas, you are appreciated!!!
Again thank you,
Lind

Yahoo, just absolutely fantastic.

I had the about same thing but had to get it treated differently but I've been clear for two years now. I'm sure your husband will do quite well too. If it does come back there are lots of new treatments to deal with it.

Wouldn't you just like to know what causes it!!!
