Type of Cancer

Hey everybody,

I have a question which will sound ridiculous but I really need some help and have no one to ask.

Is there a type of cancer that metabolises to old injuries? And if there is could you please give me the name of the cancer so I can research it. I am not even sure if it exists to be honest.

Hi,

Any cancer that can come back to the bones, which is most if not all, can always come back to an old injury like a break. It might end up there because it's a weaker place, but cancer has no rules and pretty much comes back to anywhere it feels like, IF it comes back. Many stay in remission or NED (No Evidence of Disease) for good.

Thanks Nancy,

But this isn't bone cancer. From what I understand this started as a tumour between the lung and rib cage and then other old injuries, like sports injuries, reconstructions and such, developed tumours. From what I was told this is supposed to symptomatic of the type of cancer. But the person who told me this, doesn't seem to be able to tell me what this cancer is called.

Hi,

I understand it's not bone cancer, but many cancer can come back in the bones. Let Breast Cancer, the bones is one of the main places it comes back to, along with the lungs, liver and brain, but can come back anywhere. Even though it's in the bones, it's still considered Breast Cancer. That's what I meant that it could be any cancer that sets up shop in the bones, without being bone cancer. If it's distant mets, it's still called the kind of cancer where the original tumor started. Hope this makes more sense.

Let me try to muddy the water a little bit Laughing

I do not know of any primary cancer that is particular to an old injury of any kind. However, as Nancy state about bones, other types of cancer do metastasize and it would not surprise me to hear that one had started at the location of an old injury.

Good luck in your research on this subject. Let us know what you find.

In an old (1980) bulgarian maxillo- facial and oral surgery book writes, that in the mouth carcinoma may appear on the oral mucouse due to chronical trauma. If it is so, then maybe the trauma, that is old and often re- traumated may lead to developing of carcinoma. Also skin carcinoma while developing creates a leasion, that looks like an old trauma, for example a small non healing wound that stays on the skin for months and years.

P.S. some more translation from the book led me to some explanation on how does carcinoma strats from leasion:

chronical trauma (as far as I understood it can be and leasion) -> leucoplakia plana -> leukoplakia verucosa -> leucoplakia erosiva (as far as I understood it has leasion) -> carcinoma in situ -> carcinoma
