My siter is undergoing secondline chemo Topotecan. She has a leeson that has been blocking the bowel, she needs to eat protein in order to be strong enough to take the chemo. She needs to work the bowel, but not over work it ( or it will inflame and block again) Can she juice? I keep being told that this is roughage & will over work the bowel, is this correct?
I think she needs all the help she can get to fight her clear cell Ovarian cancer, so is juicing ok? |

worriedsister, I am not sure what you mean by "juicing." I assume you mean drinking fruit juices or vegetable juices. I think either would be OK for your sister to use. However, you should really ask her medical team because they know her condition better than anyone.
I am very sorry for your sister's cancer. She is in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim

Thank you for your response. I'm new to forums & I was beginning to wonder whether anyone was out there. You are probably right, but you can't help jumping the gun when you want to help someone you love.
thanks again |

hi have u read a book called crazy sexy cancer by kris carr, it's such a gret book of a woman fighting to save her life, the doctors gave her no hope, she did'nt accept that, it's such an inspiring read, she has tumors on the liver and it spread to the lungs about 10 more tumors, she's still alive after 5 yrs, living a good life, tumors r dormant, she juiced like mad, and also alot of other things she did, just read the book, it gives hope, my best friend is fighting pulmonary intemal sarcoma, which is a very rare cancer, he is juicing green juices, also taking lots of enzymes, and lots of wheat grass, which will help to detox the body, he starts radiation first then chemo, remember cancer hates oxygen, loves sugar, green leafy veggies r full of oxygen, wheat grass it a super food, also i looked on line and found some information on a mineral called zeolite, which says it attacks cancer cells only not normal cells, so i'm trying to find out information on that one!! but if u google zeolite mineral, u can check out some of the stories of survivors!! but definitely read kris carrs book!! also there's another book called the ph miracle, by Dr. young, great read too!! about diet and super foods!!
good luck b well katex |

Kate,
This information has no scientific basis and is highly touted all over the internet by people who are out to make money off of cancer patients. Many chemotherapy regimens can be undermined by taking high amounts of supplements and anti-oxidants.
The best rule of thumb is to run EVERYTHING you take by the oncologist. Omit nothing. Generally they will recommend a simple multi-vitamin and maybe some B vitamins, depending on the type of chemotherapy being utilized.
Sugar feeding cancer is a myth. The body converts a lot of foodstuff into glucose to operate.
Don't forget that the KNOWN chemo/radiation protocol's are the best to follow. Let them do their jobs without hampering by adding other substances. A good site to verify supplement information is Memorial Sloan Kettering which, as they say, gives "objective" information to everyone. http://www.mskcc.org/mskcc/html/11570.cfm
Good luck to all.

Thank you for your responses, this is the dilemma I face. The internet is a fantastic thing, but there are so many conflicting theories. I just want to find anything that will prolong my sister's life healthily (taking into consideration her current medical condition). I agree with what you say about the oncology team (and they couldn't be more fantastic), but they are experts in one field of medicine and from the very intensive research my brother in law has done there is little or no effective treatment within the conventional medical sphere for clear cell cancer. I do think that if she has chosen the conventional route it is only right to run everthing by your oncology team, but there is still a very long way to go before conventional & alternative medicines work hand in hand. There is not enough time to wait for that day as far as my sister is concerned, she has this disease 10 yrs too early, the things that we will know in 10 yrs time wil hopefully astound us or just make us say I told you so. I'm just desparate hence my other post, I love my sister so much it hurts, it is so unfair, she has two small children and needs so very much to live for them if nothing else. Kate thank you for your post, I will look at Kris Carr's book and all the other kind information you have posted. Thanks again to you all for replying, it's good to know there are people you can talk to.
With love worriedsister |

WorriedSister,
Please seek the advice of a naturopath who will have the expertise to know what is good for your sister and what is not. He/she can coordinate complementary therapy with your sister's oncologist. I understand your desperation to save your sister and know your pain.
Hugs,

Thank you for your kindness, I've been really low recently and joined another forum, they have been king too, but I've just become slightly obcessed, a kind of therapy for my greiving process. I now have information overload and all I really want is a hug. I won't be around for a bit, I'm going to stay with my sister, she is the one who really needs the hugs.
Thanks again X |

Take care and go give your sister those big hugs. Don't forget that it is very hard on the family members to think about losing a loved one. That is very frightening.
Enjoy your time.

| Thank you for all your support, just to let you know my sister passed away today, way before her time. I will endeavour to supply all forums with as much knowledge as I have on the hideous unknown that is Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer. |
