What are your hobbies ?

Hey !

To break the ice: what do you guys do in your free time ?

I frequently use the computer for most of the time. Yes, asides from being here I read quite a bit, often about technology and related fields. Otherwise I really like to go to the movies, and just got one of those TVRs, like TiVo, which is really a great buy...

Hi,

Well....I like to play on the computer, too! I probably spend too much time there. LOL I also like to cook, especially baking goodies (share them with the neighbors). Reading is fun. We do lots of year-round walking, too.

I LOVE the outdoors. You have to if you live in Maine! In the summer I love hiking, boating and swimming. The swimming part is easy bacause we have a body of water and a raft right out back. We also have a canoe. My sis and her hubby have a boat so we have to visit them in the summer to do any REAL boating. LOL

In the winter we ice skate out back. We also have a hill in the yard and like to go sledding on it.

Edited to add: How could I forget this one? It's my favorite. Hubby has a motorcycle and we spend lots of the spring, summer and early fall riding around on that.

This is probably more than you wanted to know!? LOL

Hi all. I'm new here. I'm from California, lived here all my life.
I like to surf the net for ideas on things to do. The net is like a huge library for me. I love to learn and read. The internet is great for finding projects to do around the house...whether it be decorating ideas, projects or crafts and craft projects.
I used to go to the library to find out information but the information superhighway is much quicker and easier! LOL
I also like to bake and cook and do what I can to make people around me as happy as can be. Very Happy

I like to mess with my computer as well. I've been learning a lot about Linux as an operating system and have a dual boot of Slackware Linux and Windows XP. I spend most of my time at home on Linux. My family uses Windows. I'm in the process of installing a program in Linux to use my new digital camera. Eventually, I want to use my DSL line to host a small web page with all my pictures.

Just found the lounge. I should explore more often. What do I do in my free time? Well, like so many others I spend a lot of time on my computer. I monitor several breast cancer support boards, and I love to play games at Pogo.com. Other interests include counted cross stitching, genealogy and gardening. I travel with my mother a lot, especially during the summer months. She is almost 79 and likes to travel the US by car, and I don't want her on the road alone. I am involved in local Relay for Life (American Cancer Society fundraiser) and some social/professional organizations. In the coming months I will be doing a little freelance writing and ediiting for a local business association. Way more than you wanted to know. Lauri

To much time on the computer, live in the panhandle florida area and love to sail with my family. I also enjoy scrapbooking my photos of the family and love to do crafts, sewing. One thing that I miss is being able to go horse back riding. Haven't been able to that in years, but have wonderful memories of it. New to the lounge forum but will re visit often. I would like to re-echo Laurie, in that I should have explored this area of the forum much sooner. What a fun place!
My hobbies are like most of you the computer. Although do not spend the time I used to prior to retiring last February (04).

Guess my first love would be research. Research of anything, but only one topic at a time. Ranges from Angels to Zoology; and of course right now, Breast Cancer (but not the entire field of breast cancer, just the field of Radiology in association with BC). From what I have read so far, I have renewed respect for the entire field. I never realized how much more advanced they were then many of the other fields associated with BC. As a profession, Radiologists must be rather humble, as I never heard too much about this field, or their advances in knowledge, until now.

My other hobbies are reading, and travelling. I have so many other things I am interested in, and have done in the past; but never seem to have the time to re-invest my self in any of them. Although, one day, I am sure I will.

If I had one wish, I would wish for more hours in the day to really experience all there is to do in life. Just taking care of basics, such as sleeping, eating, bathing, praying, walking, etc. seem to take almost all the time there is at any given moment.

Oops, think I have started to ramble. What was the original question (smile).

Before I was diagnosed...

I used to surf at the beach and or go to the beach just to get away. I love to draw, except currently it's been a while since I've drawn really good. Since my stay at the hospital all throughout april 05, my skills have gone downhill. It'll take a while but I hope to get my skills back by trying again.

Currently...
I enjoy making polymer clay figures, playing with our pet staffordshire named "Simba," taking digital photos around town, hanging out with fruends and family, etc. I love cars, so I'm gonna work with "Chavant" modeling clay and try to sculpt like the pros. I like to watch TV shows like HGTV, Food Channel, Discovery, sports, etc. There's a lot of junk shows on tv that are so dumb, but I still watcu Seinfeld reruns, Cosby, etc. Cartoons nowadays I don't care for. I was born in the 80's era, and back in the day 80's cartoons ruled! but cartoons today are just lame.

Like everyone else, I spend quite a bit of time on the computer but I also do a lot of fishing and camping in the summer - but being Canadian, that's mandatory.

My real passion though is firefighting. I joined a small volunteer department 15 years ago and fell in love with it. My days of running into burning buildings or hiking hose packs into the bush on wild fires are pretty much over now so, as they say, "those that can, do - those that can't, teach" and that's what I mostly do now. On fires I run the apparatus or some other of the less physically demanding jobs. I still love it and I won't quit until I absolutely have to.

i'm a programmer all day, so i don't use the computer as much at nite as i used to. That's how I met my wife, tho.
I hunt pheasants in the fall, with my English Setter. Don't know if i can do that this year since part of my lung is out & i'llk start Chemo next week. I hunt turkeys in the spring. My wife & I both like ot fish. I have 2 kids & 4 grand lids that I like to do things with. We go canoe floating on the rivers here sometimes. The rivers here are clear, with rocky & sand bottoms.
