Hello, my mom was just diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. Was told she would have been a good candidate for surgery but because of her age and heart issues they did not want to do the surgery or chemo and was basically told to go home and get her affairs in order. Everything I read is very depressing and I am totally heartbroken. She is handling it way better then I am! What I am wondering is if anyone who has pancreatic cancer has taken Triphala and if so do you feel that it has helped? I read a million articles on so called miracle drugs and treatments but this was the only one I could find that at least had some scientific research behind it (even if it is just with mice). My mom is willing to try some herbs but she does not want to change her diet. She says if she has to die then she is going out eating chocolate Smile If you have any other ideas I would love to hear them. I know I am grasping at straws but at this point I figure it can't hurt.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post! Isabella

Izzabella,

The only use I see for herbs is possible symptomatic relief, maybe. The sad part of the herb scene is MONEY! My Uncle died of pancreatic cancer over ten years ago. Soon after his diagnosis he was traveling on an airplane, where unfortunately he was sitting next to a man who happened to sell aloe gel and other herbs. He convinced my Uncle that these alone will cure his pancreatic cancer. Of course, he was desparate, he bought approximately $1000.00 worth of cure, which after his death six months later, was poured down the sink. Truth is people prey on the sick instead of praying for the sick. Realistically, if a herb could cure, would anyone have cancer?

Thanks for your reply. I know what you mean – there are a lot of snake oil salesmen out their trying to prey on your fear. I would like to point out though that Triphala was actually tested at the Univ. of Pittsburg to have dramatically reduced the size of human pancreatic tumors in mice. This is not some flakey website out their trying to sell you something. While it may turn out to not work with humans when they do further studies my mom does not have time to wait. I figure why not try it. It is not expensive and I could never forgive myself if I didn’t have her try it and in a couple of years when they do human studies it is proven to work. If it doesn’t work there is no harm done. If you are interested just google “triphala pancreatic cancer” and you will find many scientific sites talking about this (as well as many sites trying to sell it).

I know how difficult this time must be for you and your family. My Mom was diagnosed with PC June 01 of last year. She is still doing well at the moment, and the doctor's were quite amazed at her last cat scan in early December (I wrote the entire list of herbs and diet changes she's done under "everday food has impact on cancer". She tried triphala but it gave her cramps. so she discontinued it. Triphala sounds promising so I think it is definitely worth the try. Mom is doing Ukrain intravenously weekly at the naturopath, but it is expensive. She still in little pain and goes for walks daily. She still wants to travel this year! Herbs, mushrooms and healthy foods, lots of vegetables, with no white sugar really do make a difference! Thinking of you.....Cindy

Hi Izzebella,

Early 2007, my mother was diagnosed with a growth in pancrease. Due to her age, as there was no other treatment recommended other than the palliative care, we started giving her Tripala capsule a day.
Her condition did not improve much, but certainly it did not aggravate as predicted.

Our friend in Sri Lanka helped us to get Thripala from there.

God bless you & your family!

Berny
