After 4 chemo treatments tumor in lung and adrenal gland had started growing again. So they halted the chemo and did a total hip replacement to get him out of pain but now he has sunk into a deep depression, he doesn't want to do any pt for his hip, he has no interest in anything. He only wants to sleep. My mother forces him to eat and he will nibble to apease her but i am very worried about this depression. Dr. started him on zoloft yesterday.

Thanks for your prayers and i am keeping you in mine.

criswork, I am so sorry to hear about your father. Oh, I know every well depression. It can destroy the will to live. Zoloft is a mild anti-depressant and most people respond to it well. I have been on it several times in the last 15 years. Zoloft does take a while to kick in... in some cases it takes a few weeks... but within 30 days your father should be back to "normal". If he is still depressed, talk again to his medical team. They might what to change to something a little stronger.

Your father is in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi,

Very sorry to hear about the depression and hope that the Zoloft eases this in time. Your Dad is being hammered from every side right now, no wonder he's depressed.

Best wishes,
PBJ
