Hi HNHL Forum,

I'm a 35-yr-old American living in Tokyo who was diagnosed two weeks ago with B-cell lymphoma with a tumor pushing against my prostate and bladder.

Still shocked and scared from the prostate biopsy results but somewhat relieved given that my urologist thought my enlarged prostate gland given my age was possibly the more deadly untreatable sarcoma.

CT scans show no other areas of swelling/tumors. Final results of my lymph node biopsy and bone marrow aspiration/biopsy among other tests are due out next week.

My hematologist's biggest concern is a possible bladder rupture from the
chemotherapy treatment, especially during the first cycle, if the tumor reduces suddenly in size. At this moment, the doctor has mentioned R-CHOP initially with the possibility of radiation therapy later if necessary.

Any comments/information/experience about lymphoma tumors in the pelvic area and related treatment would be greatly appreciated. Also, I've been slightly anemic - any medication taken successfully alongside chemotherapy would be helpful.

Very thankful for any info/support out there.

Thanks for your help.

Hello Binzee
I am so very sorry to read about your recent diagnosis. You must be reeling from this news but in saying this I must tell you this forum is a great community of patients & their carers, who have so much to offer.
Welcom to this forum. So glad you found us
Unfortunately, I am unable to answer most of yr questions as I am not familiar with yr type of cancer. My Bro has a brain tumour, he is a young man like you.
I do know about Anaemia though as I suffer from this through kidney disease. What level is yr haemoglobin at? Mine recently dropped to 10 & I was advised to restart ARANESP (darbepoetin) injections. Due to the kidneys not working properly they no longer produce sufficient red blood cells to boost the haemoglobin. In 2006 when I was initally diagnosed & I was so anaemic I was given blood transfusions (I had about 22 units/pints in total). This is the best I can offer you at this stage.
I trust you will be supported & receive replies to your queries over the next few days.
In the meantime, best wishes & I pray you will receive the clarity yr seeking to be better prepared to fight this illness called Cancer.
God Bless,
Angie.

The info allows me to ask better questions to the doctor
the next time around.
My best wishes and prayers to you and your brother!
