Hi, I'm Doris, age 69, from Central Fl. I was dx in Oct 2002 with CLL, watch and wait. After reading several posts here, I realize that I know very little about my ailment. A bone marrow did confirm my dx and I know that my WBC goes up and down. This month, my Lymph (whatever that means) is elevated. I'm asymptomatic other than fatigue. Most days it's pretty good; other days, I'm "wiped out".
My dr has never given me any copies of lab reports (I guess I'm supposed to ask for them??) and I don't know if I'm mutated or unmutated (whatever all that means).
My dr has recently left....leaving me assigned to a new dr. I do think I'll find another. My previous dr had told me that my immune system continue to decrease...he was a bit concerned, and told me to be sure and ask the new dr about the labs that would be drawn the first time I saw her. So I asked...she simply said "what does your immune system have to do with any of this". Now, as I said, I know very little about my ailment, but I do know about the immune system.
Could someone please tell me what questions I should be asking and what reports I need to request and at one point did any of you get a second opinion.
This seems to be a most helpful forum, and, hopefully, I'll learn much more.
