my fiance has been taking tarceva for 1year,in september had 1 spot that showed up on his liver but is now gone,he has mulitple tumors on the brain and bones,no basically its stable and slowly shrinking but since this medication is so expensive I just wished things looked a little better. This cancer really went crazy in the bones and the brain, with 20 tumors on the brain he is a walking miracle.Am I expecting to much or impatient? since we are only in our 30's I just want to get on with lives and have the chance to start a family but with this cancer I dont know if thats possible.

Hi - you are being normal!

It is always the case that we want things to happen now and not tomorrow. If the Tarceva is working, then patience may be needed.

I would also suggest that life is still there, and that maybe you should consider getting on with a family if that is what you both want - so long as you both do want one and can prepare for eventualities.

PJean,

I take it that he had WBR at some point to nuke the brain tumors. I've seen people on Tarceva for over two years being held stable.

I hope this great stability continues for your friend. Yes, Tarceva is expensive, but it's working! If it is a financial burden, the mfg. Genentech has a site for financial aid.
