I am in the class of PC recipients who is in the "waiting for the first PSA post surgery" class. Stats: Gleason 4+4, T3a

Are there specific diet recommendations that will improve my probability of keeping psa/chemical failure at bay?

Thanks

I do not know of any dietary way to control PSA levels. I would recommend that you talk with a licensed dietision who works with oncology patients at your local hospital.

What was you last PSA reading?

Good luck.

The book by Lee Nelson MD on Prostate Cancer is very comprehensive: it covers, diagnosis, treatment options, lifestyle changes, diet, nutrition, supplements etc.

Dr Myers also has information on the diet he used in his book, "Beating Prostate Cancer:Hormonal Therapy & Diet".
He also has a more detailed information on diet in his publication, "Eating Your Way to Better Health".

The opinion of many experts is that a heart-healthy diet is also of benefit for PC patients, but there are publications including Dr Myers books that are more specific, and also include research about PC growth risk factors.

Thanks so much for the feedback. My psa went from 2.7 in July 2006 to 4.7 in July 2007 to 6.0 in December 2007 just prior to surgery 1/22/08.

Best,
