My bone scan and liver scan showed no signs of metastatic cancer ,thank goodness for that. I turned down radiation and chose chemotherapy alone . I won't be going for reconstruction as that is more surgery and not all of those turn out right and besides I am not a vain person. I am just as much a woman with one breast as I was with two breasts.

My chemotherapy will be the use of Docetaxel and
Cyclophosphamide (big words for a IV cocktail) .
I have a prescriptions for nausea and bowel problems.
I should be starting chemotherapy in about ten days .
My husband and I are getting things ready in our home
to make things go smoother.

I'll be in touch as my chemotherapy
progresses ,,hugs Ann

Ann,

Praying for you! The sooner the better!

Just curious, why not a FAC (fluorouracil, adriamycin, cytoxan[Cyclophosphamide]) cocktail of chemo? I've read a good deal of research showing the efficacy of this combination for breast cancer and my wife who has been diagnosed with Stage IV received it and has responded wonderfully to it. All of your soft-tissue tumors have disappeared as per PET/CT scans seem to indicate. Her tumor in her breast literally disappeared within 4-weeks of chemo.

Good luck! Actually no luck involved here...keep yourself well hydrated, energized with healthy diet as much as you can. There will be side-effects, but you'll deal with them as they come. Different people react differently. My wife lost her hair, neutropenia (low wbc), , fatigue, and slight discoloration in her hands, but that's about it. Could have been worse.

May I suggest that you get a print-out of the chemo that you are given that details possible side-effects. This will help you to be educated about what may or may not happen as you are on these drugs.

Richard

I'm not sure why the doc chose that combo but can ask . This chemo is called BRAJDC
I did research on the side effects . I will be on chemo 3 months or 4 cycles . I forgot to add I will be taking Tamoxifen for 2-3 years ,then switch to a Aromatase Inhibitor for the balance of 5 years .Still learning as I go .

I have full use of the arm now that my mastectomy affected . Doc was amazed as it has only been a month since my surgery. As soon as the weather gets nice up here in the Yukon will be walking more ,until then I do what I can .

I am glad to read your wife has responded well to her treatment. Good luck to her as well hugs Ann

Thank you Very Happy My husband who helps me in this BC event in my life set up my first chemo treatment next wed. the 12th of march. Today I go in for my baseline blood work. I pray for the best for all . Being a strong willed person, I set my goal that it will have to take more than BC to keep me down . Am glad the treatment starts soon as I don't want it messing up my gardening season even though I will have to protect myself from the sun . Am looking forward to spring, ours up here in the Yukon starts in mid of april to may . hugs to all ...Ann

Hi Neighbor!

Ann, if you don't already know about it, there is a Canadian breast cancer forum that might also be helpful to you. I've learned a lot there.

bcs.ns.ca

or bcans

I'm sorry you are having to face treatment.
