Hi Meg is doing better. She got really sick there for a while but being the strong willed young lady that she is, she has pulled through it. She is doing much better and I am sure she appreciates all the thoughts and prayers. I will tell her to maybe post an update on the thread so ya'll can see how she is doing. I talk with her some via e-mail when she feels good enough. It is hard on a teenager to have this cancer and she is doing well as can be expected. Thanks again for asking about her and I will let her know ya'll are thinking of her.

God Bless!!!

Laurie

Hi Boldelly, I just read this topic for the first time tonight. I am very, very sorry that someone so young (14???) has died of this terrible disease. I think you might have given the wrong date... did you mean April 2007? At least that is around the time Sebastion posted on her behalf for the last time.

I am glad to see that you are still monitoring this thread. I hope to hear from you many more times. You sound like a very caring and warm person. Smile

Hope all is well with you and yours.

You are correct, I did have the date wrong it was April 2007. I was so sad to hear of her passing because she had not even started living her life yet, but she was on her way to great things I feel. I had recently read of another young girl who just turned 10 who had NHL a very rare type of it that just passed and I cannot help but feel for their families. I just cannot imagine life without one of my children.

Randi has completed all treatment 4 rounds of BEACOP and 3 weeks radiation and is not 8 months out and I can tell you I have had some unexpected feelings come flooding in a year later. She still has a 4 cm mass in her right thymus that they want to watch and not biopsy but they say she is NED (no evident disease). She still struggles with fatiuge, weight gain and trying to loose it and some other after effects of treatment, but overall she is doing well. I just as a mother worry so much about her and her health. Worry lot about relapse. Anyway, thank you for your comments and I will continue to drop in and see how everyone is doing.

Hope everyone is have a good holiday. Laurie

Hi Laurie, when I talk about my children, I usually say that I have three... two girls and one boy. That is not entirely correct... my oldest daughter died shortly after her birth due to a congenital defect Sad. Although that happened over 28 years ago, I can still feel the pain. There is nothing quite like the loss of a child... and I only had my child for a very short time. I can only imagine the pain that meg's family experienced. I think my loss has affected who I am... in a positive direction. It is also why I have replied to you about meg. Sad

Warmest regards.

This is just awful. As I read through this thread it sounded like things were getting better. Then to find out they were not. I'm very saddened.

this brought me to tears, it just prooves how something you would think to be very in-significant can lead to something so serious over such a short period of time. Nobody deserves to have cancer especially not a child. She sounded like a very strong minded, positive and caring person which saddens me even further to think that she has passed. rest in peace meg.

Alici05, I do not talk with her parents anymore as they are very busy people and I was talking to sebastian and he drops me an e-mail here and there, but I have not heard from him as of late. I think about Meg often and wish things could have been different for her and her family. Makes you wonder sometimes why this one and not that one.

My daughter is doing well, still has some side effects, but they are much better. She was just telling me this weekend that her hands were burning really bad Saturday; still neuropathy from chemo. She is now about 9 months out from all treatment. She still has a 4 cm mass in her right thymus that had some uptake on her PET in July. She is due for another PET and CT on the 19th of this month. I am anxious about the results. I want the mass to have shrank and the uptake be none. She is anxious but about being put into the machines and mostly the putting in the IV thing. They are reading her scans from July as NED or no evidence of disease. They told us that there was no way to tell if the mass in her thymus is scar tissue or cancer unless they biopsied it and her onc wanted to play the wait and see game for a while. We have been to monthly appointments and she got her port out in August, which gave her a feeling of "it is over" although she realizes it will never be over. She will always have to be more vigilant with her body and doctor's follow-ups. She is doing well though. She is doing homeschool on the internet to catch up in school and she had/is having some problems with fatigue, but her onc says it will take a long time for her energy level to come back to normal. Anyway, I am sorry for the long post, but we are doing well for now, thanks for asking. Laurie
