3 months ago I had a partial nephrectomy to remove what I understand was a T1 RCC. Pain in my right side has returned, just as it was before surgery. I also experience burning sensations in my chest and I have general pains throughout my abdominal area. My first CT since surgery is another 2 months away, but I see the doctor on Wednesday for another matter. I know something is not right, but I'm just not sure how my doctor will react to these symptoms. I am truly concerned that he will brush them aside saying it is too soon after surgery for anything serious to be going on. Any advice?

Not to sound desparate or anything, but is someone going to reply? The whole reason I posted this question here is the rapid response and good advice given.

Dear MP Collins,

There are several possibilities for the symptoms, but post-surgical reaction (side effects from surgery) is not uncommon. Early stage renal cell cancer has a relatively good prognosis after complete resection. Although recurrence of the primary disease in the abdomen is possible, usually it may take longer time. I think you should go back to see the surgeon who did the surgery for a complete history and physical examination. If needed, the physician will order a CT scan for you to rule out recurrence or any other cause.

Good luck,

Dr. J. Jay Lu

Thank you for the respone. I am going to see the doctor today and I am bringing along a pain diary, just in case. I know some of the pain is surgery/muscle related, but some is not.
