Wonderful news! (or as good as it CAN be)
My mom was recently staged at 2, and the pulmonary doc and her cardiologist cleared her for surgery to remove the lower left lobe of her lung.
They classified her as Stage 2 because the PET scan was inconclusive, due to her diabetes. However, they decided to remove a lymph node and have it tested before they proceeded with removing the lobe of her lung.
JOY! Lab results showed no cancer in the lymph node, so they proceeded to remove the cancer in the lower left lobe of her lung.
She is resting comfortably in the recovery room (a few ounces lighter), and was awake and speaking. I don't know what the next step is (chemo, most likely), but one small battle is won!
Thanks for your prayers and support, I'll be a regular fixture in this forum.

Kenny, this is great news! It is best to cut the cancer out when possible than to leave it and increase the chances of it metastasizing.
Your mother is in my thoughts and prayers as she recovers. _________________ Jim

Well --- BIG whoo-hoo's for your Mom Kenny!! This is absolutely fabulous news and I'm pleased as punch for you.
She has a much better, MUCH better chance at surviving with this news and I'm glad to hear that they have moved quickly to do the surgery. (I tend to be of the "cut it out" variety myself!)
God bless and keep us posted on her recovery and the next step.

pbj11, I also want to thank you for sharing your story with others. I really appreciate what you wrote. Also I thank Tera and any of the others that have posted their stories.
I have not posted here yet. I will be back and post later. It is rather late now but I had to reply to this. My husband has the cancer and I am having somewhat of a problem with when to talk and when not too. We have been married many years and yet 'this time' it is a little harder to read his thoughts.
Thanks again to all of you for sharing. I will be back and will bring the necessary information on what he is dealing with.
I wish you all the best. |
