Hi Mum had bowel cancer 5 years ago and everything went really well with the op at as of Jan 2008 she was still clear but on the CT scan they found something and was sent for PET scan and we were told the news that it was now showing on her lung and offered her an op stright away (not sure if that's good or bad)

If it had not been for her check ups they wouldn't have found out that she has now got it on her lung.

They removed the tumor on the 20.3.08 and the surgon told us it was only a size of a 20p (not sure if that's good or not) she had a right mini-thoracotomy on the right lower lobe (metastectomy) the mass was entirely exeised and when we left the hosp the surgon gave her a thumbs up.

We are due to see her cancer doctor in a weeks time - Do you think mum will now have to have chemo

And what questions should we ask next ?

My heart goes out to every family who has is or had had to go through this.

Hi Bakewell,

I'm sorry that your Mom is facing more cancer. Do the doctors know if this is a metastasis from her old colon cancer or is it actually a new cancer of the lung?

Big difference. I guess they will do the testing of the tumor to find out what you are dealing with this time. At least she got the thumb's up, which is great news!

I hope you get definite answers on what type of cancer this is and they will tell you whether she will need chemo or not after assessing the tumor.

Good luck and keep us posted.

PBJ
