During a recent yearly exam, I ques. the Dr. about the size of my sons lymph nodes. This is my middle son and looking back there have been several times that his lymph nodes have been enlarged (never got sick) and went back down.
The Dr. prescribed augmentin, sent us for blood work and chest x-rays. We have been back to the office several times to check the size. All of the tests/x-rays have came back fine. The Bartonella (cat scratch disease) test is not back yet. My son has no symptoms of viral/bacterial infection and does not display any symptoms of night sweats etc.
However, my concern is that I have heard from the Dr. and several other personal friends that lymphoma does not show in your bloodwork immediately. I have an appt. on Thurs. Do I request a PET scan? Is a biopsy drastic at this point? Bloodwork was also done for Epstein Barr, CMV and TB. All have been negative.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi rca. I am very sorry about your son's current health concerns. There is some good news. If it was a cancer (lymphoma or metastatic), the nodes would not grow and then shrink without treatment. His doctor is fallowing the standard protocol by first trying an antibiotic. If that does not help, you might ask him to do a biopsy of at least one node.

Your son is in my thoughts and prayers.
