Have just been told I have meso. However I am getting another opinion. Does anyone out there know if the marker for meso, calretinin, can on rare occasions indicate that you have meso & in fact be wrong.

rowlf, I know very little about Mesothelioma and nothing about calretinin. Almost all tests do have a certain level of probability of giving a false positive result. However, I do not know how likely a test for calretinin is to give a false positive.

calretinin deals with calcium doesn't it? Why would it turn up a test on mesothelioma as positive? I don't think it would make your test come out positive. If anything I don't think going off calretinin may cause you any serious side effects. Try going on a drug holiday and then getting a test.
