My husband's last radiation treatment was April 15th and his last chemo was April 3rd.

My husband gets dizzy, lightheaded like, when he gets up, 'from bending over'. At one point his BP was going really low and also found a low WBC. The WBC has been taken care of.

His BP fluctuates and the Heart Dr is changing around his meds to try to regular it again. That does not seem to be the problem. Even when BP is okay this still happens.

Upon mentioning it, the Oncology Dr ordered another Brain scan and all is okay. Is it possible this is just one of the lasting side effects of the treatment. Any ideas anyone. Other than for this he is doing pretty good this past week. Seeing surgeon again Wednesday.

Thanks,

Mary, I am very sorry about your husband's continuing heath problems. I too get dizzy and light headed to the point of almost passing out when I start up too rapidly or bend over to pick something up... especially after a period of inactivity (no exercise). My BP also fluctuated and when I do not exercise, it drops to the point where is is hard for me to do much. My red blood cells are also at the bottom of the "normal" range. Furthermore, I am 6ft3in: Low BD, low red blood cells, low amount of cardiovascular exercising = not enough blood getting to the brain when I stand up too rapidly. I am not sure if this is happening with your husband but my guess is that you husband is having the same thing.

Thanks Jim. We really think it is just after effects from his treatment. It is tolerable for now. Just wanted to ask to see if anyone else has had this and was not serious.

Actually as far as feeling bad, he has done very well this past week and we appreciate the break he is getting. No major problems. Thanks again

Hi Mary,

Unless he's dehydrated, it probably is the after-effects from radiation. It's still very close to when he finished and the brain takes several weeks to shake off the rads. I saw a friend of mine go through this problem. Tossing chemo back in right away, which is a good thing, is hard on a body that's already fighting.

Hope he gets to feeling better soon.

Thanks to Kim and PBJ for your responses too. He will just be careful. He is so much better now. Almost seems like before treatment.
