Things went fine. Thanks for asking.
I got out of the hospital on Monday. They would have let me go Saturday, but things had yet to start working. I was starting to get worried Saturday night. Then Sunday afternoon, things started working.
Apparently, the colon is slow to come out of anaesthetics.
Now all I got to do is heal. _________________ 10/01/07 - Removal of Stage III Colon Cancer Tumor and Temporary Colostomy

So glad to hear that REB - I imagine it is pretty uncomfortable for the first week or two.
I went to see my surgeon this week - my surgery to remove the rectal tumor is now scheduled for June 18th. so - I'm working on trying to get off pain pills and get some strength and energy back. It's slow going though.
I'll bet you are so happy to be out of the hospital - it is just so tedious isn't it.....good luck with the healing

Thank you.
I am getting around better. The last couple of days, where they cut me, has hurt. They had to pull my skin muscles tight. My doctor said it was because I didn't have enough fat (I have lost about 10-15 pounds from this time last year). That area has felt really tight and soar.
I am going to start driving again tomorrow. I been catching a ride with a co-worker. _________________ 10/01/07 - Removal of Stage III Colon Cancer Tumor and Temporary Colostomy

Thanks for asking REB,
I am doing better - tho the radiation has left me with extreme fatigue. Every time I think I am back to my old self - I do too much and then have to take it easy. I am finding it difficult to do things in moderation.
Yesterday for example - after two days off - I went to work and stayed from 8:30 til 6:00 just 'cos it was great to be back and I was so energized....end result - I couldn't sleep last night, was exhausted today, ended up doing a few hours of work from home and took a long afternoon nap - that I still woke up tired from......
Now I am here wide awake at 1am...
And I must go in tomorrow for at least four hours!!
Anyway - I am actually very excited this week as my sister in ENgland who I have not seen for two years - is coming over for a week - she arrives Saturday and I have taken a week off to spend time with her. I can hardly wait, she will keep me laughing!
Sounds like you are going to be in great shape with this new tummy tuck!
I have told my DOc when he does my surgery I am expecting a nice flat stomach when he gets done......I too have lost weight - probably 14 or so pounds...I keep blaming my lost energy on that!
Is the plumbing working alright? It sounds like I am going to end up with a "J" pouch if my Doc can get close enough for a clean edge and save my sphincter muscles.....
Take care -
